In all the reportage and commentary on the killing of Qassem Soleimani, I havent seen much mention of an interesting parallel between the Iranian mullah regimes attacks on America this past week and its attacks when it first came to power 40 years ago.
The similarity is that on both occasions, the Iranian regime violated diplomatic immunity.
In 1979, they seized 52 American diplomats and held them hostage for 444 days, releasing them only on the day Ronald Reagan took office. Last week, they attacked the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad after launching multiple attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq.
Diplomatic immunity is perhaps the oldest and most basic principle of international law. It has been sanctioned by international agreements and observed (even by Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin) for at least three centuries. Violation of diplomatic immunity is an act of war.
Irans attacks on diplomats reveal it as an outlaw regime.
Trump said outright that the missiles fired at American troops were paid for by the 0bama administration.
Whew! It looks like Trump “blundered” out of war!
I thought the most interesting thing about his speech was he stated the US is manufacturing hypersonic missiles.
That’s very big news.
All the world knew about those programs was that they were R&D.
Production is nearly earth-shattering.
Just as I expected. A very magnanimous speech.
President Trump exhibited just about every fruit of the spirit. Gentleness, Kindness, Patience, Self-Control.
Yet, he reserved the right to act accordingly if Iran decides to lash out again.
Dems crestfallen!
Yeah, Lester Assholt has Upchuck Todd on live, and Todd, of course, is finding the clouds in the silver lining. Subversive pricks. I’m getting to the point where I could almost give terrorists a pass if they’d pick the right targets.
Lol CNN says poor Iran had to do all its bad acts because of Trump’s rhetoric.
Beautifully stage managed. The doors parted and President Trump stepped out of the bright light, surrounded by military. Masterful!
Actually he did not reserve the right to act.
What I heard is that he is coning to apply additional sanctions. He is going to get the Europeans to abandon what is left of the treaty and he is going to ask NATO to engage against Iran.
He outlined action.
They attacked our embassy and it is the Democrats fault.
They did everything they could do to weaken President Trump and Iran thought they would test the waters.
The current situation is the fault of the Democrats and the Democrats alone. (except for their Terrorist meal tickets, Iran)
See my previous post. You can be 100% sure that the Dems had their pointing fingers locked and cocked and their whine sirens cranked before Trump even came in the room. They just have to tweak their false fury and self-piety to fit Trump’s statement, and off they’ll go.
Obama bought and paid for the recent terrorism in the Middle East. He should be tried for treason. Bush is not innocent either.
“I thought the most interesting thing about his speech was he stated the US is manufacturing hypersonic missiles.”
Trump saying that was a message to Russia since they’ve been testing their own recently. In other words, the game’s afoot.
Others are doing it, and he doesnt want them getting the idea reciprocity wont follow any shenanigans.
President Trump surprised me, again. I will admit that I (we) do not have the information he has so my wanting him to use our military to punish Iran (as bomb them back to the stone age).
However, while waiting for him to speak I could not help remembering the time leading up to WWI where one misunderstanding after another and NONE of the major players wanted to appear weak and stop it before it got out of control ultimately resulting in the death of millions.
President Trump is strong enough to take (any) heat directed at him from his supporters by doing what he thinks best.
At this point only time and historians will tell if he made the correct decision.
I believe we have had our hand in this for awhile. Since everyone of the major powers are in the race to get this technology. There was an article in Military Times a few months ago talking about the successful testing of a hyper-sonic propulsion motor.
I watched that speech and he looked haggard. he did not look good at all and sounded tired.
I cannot imagine the amount of stress he’s under considering the situation.
Prayers up for him for God to fill him with the strength he needs to do this job.
I was asking myself what the heck? Iran launched 15 ballistic missiles and essentially hit NOTHING !
Either their AIM is so bad and theyre incompetent or they deliberately hit nothing.
If the former, then theyre worse than I thought ( but I dont underestimate them since they were able to hit our drone when they wanted to ).
This face-saving measure is consistent with the reports weve been hearing that their own propaganda WITHIN Iran for their own people tells them that they killed dozens of our troops.
