The top US general said Monday a letter suggesting the US would withdraw troops from Iraq was released by mistake and poorly worded, telling reporters "that's not what's happening."
Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley sought to address the confusion that began after the leak of aletter to the Iraqi government from US Command in Baghdad suggesting US troops would be withdrawn from the country.
"That letter is a draft. It was a mistake, it was unsigned, it should not have been released ... (it was) poorly worded, implies withdrawal, that is not what's happening," Milley said.
"It's an honest mistake ... it should not have been sent," he added.

Given the nice treatment of Lt. Col. Vindeman, it appears leaking is fully acceptable in today’s military. What % of the senior officer corps today was put in place by Barack Obama?
I’ve been saying this since salami order the embassy attack...THIS WAS A SETUP!! Now this leaked letter...IT’s beginning to stink like swamp, china, Iran, Kerry, and Ovomit set up!! God be with us because lives are at stake! Somebody intentionally leaked that letter to make the president look bad and no matter what it does make it look bad!
Seems to me it was probably a troll to flush out another leaker.
Sounds like the Sec of Defense” Chief of Staff who announced his “retirement” today was caught leaking it despite the Sec of Defense denial.

They voted us to leave. We made them think about it. I doubt a draft letter was leaked more like released as a leak to get them thinking. The action is very much like Trump’s own hand was on the keyboard. Many people go faint over the possibility of being asked to leave and then they want to pay for the privilege of staying.
