Rockets are hitting inside of the Green Zone now.
dont remember.
imam of peace says people have been killed today in attacks on US bases.
That’s the attack in Africa.
A car bomb.
It’s the White Zone in Joe’s Garage.
The white zone is for loading and unloading but that’d be racist.
I can assure you that triangulating the origin or mortars and rockets is very simple and its tech that has been in the field for a long time.
The Green Zone is a big place, people.
I was at Hughes Missile Systems for 23 years.
Its called “counter battery fire” using “counter battery radar”. The U.S. had this before Iraq invaded Kuwait.
Amen!
Counterbattery practice?
I would think that the US has radar that can track them from a hundred feet above the rooftops and calculate the launch point and then automatically program, load and fire a mortar withing 5 seconds.
Dont they know we thrive on rockets red glare...
and bad guys blowing up in the air...
I read earlier this week the green zone/embassy complex is 104 acres. That’s the size of same town in the midwest.
What would it take to clean out the Iranian loyalists in the Iraqi government?
This is where those airborne attack helicopters and drones come in. Counterbattery artillery fire is too inaccurate for use in densely populated civilian areas for the reasons you mention in your post. But an operator-controlled guided missile is precise enough to do the job. However, queuing (knowing where to look) when the rockets are being fired still requires some time and cooperation from the enemy (too many rounds from the same spot) to bring weapons on target.
Problem is that artillery and helicopters have probably left the country due to the draw down of forces under Obama and Trump. (Except in the far west where we were, until today, still fighting ISIS.)
Personally, I think we should honor the Shia-dominated Iraqi government’s coming request that the US leave. When we do, I hope we ARCLIGHT every Iraqi Shia militia location we know of into oblivion so that the punks will be sorry forever that they got so upset about their “hero” general receiving his due.
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
These Media Posts will serve as notification to the United States Congress that should Iran strike any U.S. person or target, the United States will quickly & fully strike back, & perhaps in a disproportionate manner. Such legal notice is not required, but is given nevertheless!

These bottle rockets are little more than harassing fire.

U.S. forces have launched strikes on five Iranian-backed militia positions in Iraq and Syria Sunday following a series of rocket attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq, including one that killed an American contractor and wounded four U.S. troops.
The “defensive strikes” on facilities of the Kata’ib Hezbollah (KH) facilities were intended to “degrade KH’s ability to conduct future attacks against” the U.S. and coalition forces, Jonathan Hoffman, the Pentagon’s chief spokesman, said in a statement.
He said the three KH locations in Iraq and two in Syria that were hit included weapons depots and command and control positions that the militia group had used to plan and execute a series of recent attacks on friendly bases in Iraq.
