The first school I ever taught in was a Catholic school in Brooklyn in an Italian neighborhood. The gifts I remember came not from the school but from the parents, pastries, cookies, wine. A lot was homemade, even the wine.
Oh, and I’d have preferred the BBQ sauce and utensil to a box of junk food.
A bunch of my friends worked for this contractor, they always got Cash Bonuses at the end of the year. One year he bought them all ghetto blasters, the next day half the crew complained to the boss, that after breaking them all apart they couldn’t find any cash.
Give a box of hexnuts to match the threads of the screwing he gave himself.
(Seinfeld reference)
I seriously doubt he was fired for a complaining tweet. There are other factors at play here.
I hope Mr. Hussein doesn’t go all SJS on Fastenal and his ex co-workers.
Christmas was our BIG time of the year and twelve or fourteen hour days were the norm. Since most of us were salaried we did not get overtime. But like I said, the GM made us feel like we were appreciated.
He got promoted the first week of December. Everything was set up for the Christmas party, I know, I was the one who had written the checks. Our new GM came in, canceled the party which was already paid for and it was non-refundable, the gifts were thrown away, no refund there either.
On Christmas eve we were called into the conference room where we were given cookies and coffee. That was the Christmas party, we got a coupon for a half gallon of milk that expired on December 31 of that year. And we did not get a half day off.
No, they did not owe us anything.
But there was a reason we were the top producing branch and came though whenever crunch time arrived and it arrived several times a year.
Needless to say in the following year the best people left for other jobs.
Probably a good thing we did not have Twitter back then.
made a remark about Muslims is gonna be dredged up.....Can’t be Muslim. He said something about being a believer in God, not Satan.
Can you describe her reaction and what the fallout was?
There’s more behind this. Bet on it.
While I think it was petty on BOTH sides - I dont see any grounds for a successful suit.
Our small department bosses gave us all a $25.00 Visa card and they paid for a luncheon-staff of 10. Then the whole department of about 70 folks do a white elephant gift exchange and the departments pay for a nice luncheon at this holiday event at xmas. I got a brand new toilet seat. Laughed so hard. I tried leaving it there at the restaurant but my coworkers put it on my chair the next morning. My employer was so good to me and I feel so blessed to have worked there. I even worked with lot of Libs, 3 within my small department but we all got along and respected each other and could disregard political differences.
i strongly suspect that there is WAY, WAY more to this story than simply being fired for complaining about barbecue sauce ...
I worked for a nationally (at the time) well-known chain store where after five years of near-minimum wage I was given a letter opener in a nice little black box. Hoo-ray!
The following year I was given a company-mandated raise of one cent. Yee-haw!
I didn’t, couldn’t complain, I was young and the job wasn’t meant to last forever. The fact was they offered health care coverage for employees working over 32 hours per week. A steal, and I was grateful.
> I have never once bitched about any of them on social media
Well, on LinkedIn, I did list my job title as “Minion Level 3” with one company that fired me. ;-)
> blew up our bosses nuts
That’s pretty funny stuff right there!
Social media claims another one.
First rule of the Godfather: never disagree with family in front of outsiders. When you make company business public you get fired. It’s how life works, it’s how life has worked since companies and public were invented.
Looks like folks with a good sense of humor too. That’s important. When the Democrat Party crashes into the garbage dump of history, you must remind the Libs to see the humor.
