A Canadian man says he was fired from a job he held for six years because he complained on Twitter about receiving a $6 bottle of barbecue sauce as a holiday gift.
Hussien Mehaidli, 27, worked as a general manager for Fastenal, a U.S.-based wholesaler of construction materials that operates across Canada. When he first joined the company back in 2013, he said he and his coworkers usually received a box of goodies for the holidays.

I can only speak for myself, but I have worked plenty of crappy jobs in my life. I have never once bitched about any of them on social media (much less named names), after parting company with them.
Some people gotta learn the hard way...
I’m thinking some Canadian bacon would have really set him off.
Booohoooo.
Quit whining whiner.
One year my employer gave everyone a can of mixed nuts. He had them delivered to our houses by a local delivery company and left in a plain brown box. I joked to my coworkers that I got nervous about an unexpected plain box on my porch and called the bomb squad. I told them the bomb squad came out and blew up our bosses nuts. I think I was the only one who thought it was funny.
My guess is that this was not the first time.
Fastenal is going to be paying this guy hundreds of thousands of dollars in a settlement. This is so stupid.
Social media ruins lives.
I thought exactly the same thing, you beat me to it and you even added a picture.
I hope they don’t pay him a dime. (rolls eyes)
When I was younger I worked in the accounting office of a local bank. For Christmas the President of the company sent out glass cups with the banks name on them along with a pic of he and his family. The cups were left over from a promo for opening an account with the bank. I told my manager, who was a friend, that I felt insulted and would rather receive nothing.
“My guess is that this was not the first time.”
Article confirms ...
“Fastenal is going to be paying this guy hundreds of thousands of dollars in a settlement. This is so stupid.”
On what grounds?
jimho, for a company that employs thousands and makes what looked to be a healthy revenue (would have to look at a P&L though), the 'gift' was pretty cheesy in light of what they normally gave at Christmas.
Its not like they gave him pork ribs. Jeez.
Somtimes it sucks.
It sucks even more when you don't have a job.
Merry Christmas!
I’m on his side too. Yeah, it was probably kind of a stupid thing to do but he’d been there six years. I hope he gets a wrongful termination settlement.
Should have gotten him a membership in the Jelly of the Month Club. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
LOL!
