Diplomacy is a two-way street. We haven’t had that in decades.

Rand hopes there will be escalation, and the US will sustain huge casualties, so he can run again in 2024 and fulfill Ron’s hopes that the ostrich will replace the eagle as the national bird. I expect he’ll be wrong, simply because Iran is literally weak and can’t afford to take a lot of damage. It’s obvious from Rand’s rhetoric that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Turn and run Rand Paul. To do nothing would have only caused one-sided escalation in itself. However, if this does cause further escalation, then President Trump should go before Congress and ask for a Declaration of War against Iran. If they refuse, then escalation becomes their doing, not President Trump’s. If they do execute a Declaration of War with Iran then we can bomb the living poop out of the Ayatollah’s.

In order for there to be an all out war then they would have to send an invasion force here or else we would have to send thousands of troops there. They don’t have the means, and we are not going to wage a mass war against their country unless Iran does something really stupid like commit a mass terrorism attack. If they do something crazy like set off a Nuke then all bets are off.

I take issue with that. Trump probably revived diplomacy in the Middle East. So long as the party on the other side of the table is pretty sure you won’t play rough with them, why do they need to negotiate honestly??? If they think that you just might lob a missile in on top of them, that encourages the urgency of negotiation and a more earnest discussion.
These politicians wring their hands so much it’s a wonder they have any hands left. . . .
