Warren Buffett Laments SJW Companies: ‘This Is the Shareholders’ Money’
Money&Markets ^ | Jan 2, 2020 | JT Crowe

Posted on 01/02/2020 10:41:26 PM PST by aquila48

"Legendary investor and Berkshire Hathaway founder and CEO Warren Buffett said it’s high time companies stop acting as moral arbiters, social activists and SJWs — social justice warriors — and instead focus their efforts on their primary responsibility: making money for their shareholders.

This comes alongside the announcement that Berkshire Hathaway is pouring about $30 billion into wind turbines and infrastructure in Iowa. The plan, according to Buffett, is to turn the state into “the wind capital of the world, the Saudi Arabia of wind.”

Among the corporate consensus these days is a call to be “doing well by doing good,” with companies claiming — sincere or not — to want to be more socially active.

But the idea of turning Iowa into the wind capital of the world isn’t built out of some moral quest against fossil fuels for Buffett to impose his idea of “doing good” on society, not at all. For the Oracle of Omaha, its about doing what is best by his shareholders.

“We wouldn’t do (it) without the production tax credit we get,” Buffett told Financial Times.

Last year, Buffett also told the Financial Times it’s wrong for companies to impose their ideas of doing good in society because how do they know their idea of “doing good” is actually, well, good?

“It’s very hard to do. If you give me the 20 largest companies, I don’t know which of the 20 behaves the best, really. I’ve been a director of 20 publicly owned (companies) and I think it’s very hard to evaluate what they’re doing, it’s very, very hard. I like to eat candy. Is candy good for me or not? I don’t know.”

IIRC his railroads would have lost a lot of business if the Keystone Pipeline were built.

Hey Uncle Warren, how come your company, Moody’s Rating Agecny, gave AAA ratings on bonds they knew contained mortgages held by people with 550 FICO scores?

How many bonds did Moody’s refuse to rate in 2006, the year you sold your 20 percent stake?

How likely is it that if Moody’s had publicly called bullsh!t on all of this using your folksy, down to earth, Wilford Brimley, letter to sis manner that AIG would have sold coverage for dogsh!t MBSs?

I wonder how many people committed suicide because they lost everything because your whore house was selling AAA ratings to anybody trolling cash by your NYC offices?

Hey Warren, go be quiet and leak into your depends for the rest of the next decade, if you please.

Buffett is an atheist, and he will be dead soon.

And soon he will realize how stupid and futile his life really was. His money won't mean a thing.

I am not impressed with his latest statement. He was an ally of the wicked and evil Obama Hussein, and has done his own measure of great harm.

He’s actually making a strong case against publicly-traded companies.

List an IPO for your company and invite any investors to buy most of your shares out for billions of dollars, and you have no idea what kind of people and political agendas you’re inviting into your board room.

I hope the hog farmers sue him for lower weights from the vibrations of the spinning machines. The locals will find out what $30 billion can destroy.

"And who in their right mind would base their business decisions on getting money from someone who’s in 22 trillion dollars’ debt?"

Pretty much anyone who is investing in the stock market. Watch what happens to THAT when the debt unwinds.

Get used to it, Warren. You are getting just a small glimpse of the future that is in store.

Welcome to the world you helped create.

"We wouldn’t do (it) without the production tax credit we get," Buffett told Financial Times.

In other words, it doesn't make any business or economic sense, but since Uncle Sugar is giving us free money, we're willing to rip of the taxpayer as long as the gravy train lasts.

The DOD contractor I got laid off from after 33years of exemplary service started clubs within the company a few years before I was wacked. A club for women, another for latinos, another for blacks and one for fags. The company had around 1000 employees but only 7 were admitting to being in the fag club, though there were supposedly “secret” members.

Oh, but no white, hetero or men’s clubs allowed. The writing was on the wall for this white dude.

This from the man who blew a billion dollars trying to run up the price of gasoline in 2008 (an election year).

Read the excerpt again...that's not what happened.
