Former NFL player Jack Brewer once raised campaign money for President Obama, but now hes among the increasing number of black voters who support President Trump.
There is an awakening going on right now in the country, Mr. Brewer said of black voters who traditionally support Democrats. Im going to take the guy whos actually putting in the policies that are going to make life better for my young black son and my young black daughter, versus somebody who gives me lip service like, unfortunately, the Democrats have done for our community for years.
Mr. Trump and his reelection team are aggressively courting black voters amid a strong economy that has reduced black unemployment to 5.5%, lowest in history. The Trump campaign launched its Black Voices for Trump coalition in Atlanta last month.
The Democrats have let you down, Mr. Trump told black supporters at the time. Theyve dismissed you. Theyve hurt you. Theyve sabotaged you for far too long.
The campaign also has paid for full-page, full-color advertisements promoting Mr. Trump in 11 local black newspapers across the nation, and radio spots on urban radio stations nationwide.
Theres some evidence that the presidents policies and campaign outreach are making inroads with black voters. Three polls in November showed Mr. Trumps job-approval rating among black voters in the 30% to 35% range, a significant increase over other surveys that have generally shown black voter support of less than 10%.
Ill remind you, the president received 8% of the black vote in 2016, said a senior Trump campaign official.
The president and his campaign advisers know that poll numbers and approval ratings dont always translate into votes, but they think Mr. Trump has a good chance to significantly increase the level of support he receives from black voters in 2020.

I read somewhere (validity unknown) that for Dems to win major elections they need a minimum of 85% of the black vote.
Whatever the actual percentage is, the Dems are actively replacing their dependency on black voters with Mexican voters - mostly illegals.
What US blacks fail to understand is that the Democrat Party is working on changing their primary minority constituency from blacks to Mexicans. Which is not far off. Will they figure that out? I am doubtful.
It’s gotta be very frustrating to be a black conservative.
If President Trump gets more than 10% of black American vote he will win easily. The average of the most recent polls of black American support for our president is 33%.
Don’t remember if these polls were of black Americans or, Likely Voter black Americans. If they were the latter the dems are in trouble.
In 2016, the Democrats, with the help of the media, portrayed Trump as some kind of cross-burning, white supremacist. But three years of reality have demonstrated that the Democrats are liars, and the Trump economy helps everyone.
Exactly. Trump may well improve on the 13% of the black male vote, but improvement in the 4% of the black female vote is pretty much dead in the water.

Sorry. That was to the Baltimore one.
The black vote turnout will reach record levels in 2020.
What about what’s better for parents of most “blacks”: welfare?
Tough choice. Good for him!
Dunno
Mo $$ = mo $$
No matter who
This is the last thing the Democrats want! It would deliver millions of Black votes to Trump.
The Democrats sabotaged this plan and all other plans of splendor, benevolence, and vision that President Trump's genius and puissance would bring to America.
Their main method of sabotage was to keep President Trump occupied with defending himself. That's what the 3-year-long "impeachment" is all about--that and preventing him from exposing the truth about the crimes of the corrupt establishment.
If America can get the Democrats out of President Trump's way, his genius will bring priceless treasures to America.
The Democrats will stop at NOTHING to prevent that from happenin
There is a not too dissimilar thing that has happened with social conservatives. Many people wonder why social conservatives support a man who many see as a less than moral leader. I think that there are two main reasons:
(1) Like blacks on the Democrat plantation, social conservatives have long been the red-headed stepchildren of the Republican Party. They were given lip service but little in real action. The Establishment wanted their votes, but not their values. Trump has largely fulfilled his promises regarding judicial appointments.
(2) The second reason is surprisingly simple: Trump doesn't hate them. Some establishment Republicans, like the late not-so-great John McCain couldn't hide the fact that he despised social conservatives. Others merely tolerated them at best. They were hated by both parties. The simple act of not hating them went a long way.
Slowly, many blacks see themselves as being thrown under the bus as the democrats pivot to pandering to Hispanics, especially illegals.
You make very good points, I fully agree.
I don’t believe the “Walk Away” movement was started by Trump people.
Funny how they didn’t mention that group.
Why do you say that?
Good point...I don’t know anything about the walk away group but just having taken a quick look at the site it was started by one guy, a liberal named Brandon Straka.
Let me make a prediction. President Trump will receive 28% of the black vote. Mark my words.
‘The black vote turnout will reach record levels in 2020.’
if so, problematic for Trump in PA and MI; two corrupt states with even more corrupt metropolitan centers; black malaise is what killed Hilary Clinton...
It’s hard to keep track of all these people’s connections.
I wasn’t totally sure he wasn’t connected to some Trump effort.
I’m sure glad the movement was started and publicized
2016 - “What Do You Have To Lose?”
2019 - Unemployment among Blacks and Hispanics at lowest recorded level in decades.
Keep Making America Great for ALL! Trump 2020.
