Well blow me down. So to speak. So, we just got the latest NVEnergy bill and included was the breakdown of current methods of generation in Nevada. Who, by the way passed a mandate that 50% of Nevada energy would be from renewables by 2030. Yeah, ten years away. Here's the break down from high to low:

Natural Gas-----75.36%

Coal-------------7.53%

Geothermal-------6.58%

Solar------------5.62%

Hydroelectric----2.44%

Wind-------------1.81%

Nuclear----------0.30%

Biofuel----------0.29%

Biomass----------0.05%

Other------------0.02%

Oil--------------0.00% (but somewhere it produces 530 MW hours)

Yeah, ten years seems doable. NOT! Consequences if not met? No clue. We stumbled on some 5 or 6 windmills in the middle of NFW Nevada and it made my hackles raise. Disgusting awful obstruction in our "view shed".

Windmills are a complete and total scam. Nuclear power is the way to go for cheap, dependable energy. Of course, THAT is way to scary for the commies.

Windmills cause the deaths of more birds than anything else. Imagine being a bird and flying into one of those things, but commies love them yet they kill birds, gee I thought commies care about birds..maybe Democrat voting birds

The West is trying to kill itself.

German got rid of 1/2! its nuclear capacity in the last 7 years and is shooting for 0%. What’s the result? They have to buy all their power from Russia.

How stupid can you get?

Thought Nevada received a large percentage of its electricity from the Hoover Dam.

Driving to California there used to be beautiful rolling hills. Now all you see are giant white windmills and this weird sound that you feel instead of hear.

“You just go take a look. A bird graveyard. Go under a windmill someday,” he said. “You’ll see more birds than you’ve ever seen ever in your life.”

Love President Trump, speaks the truth!

Noisy, unsightly, bird-killing, and prone to throwing huge shards of metal when they self-destruct.

They don’t last long (some self-destruct quickly). Lots of problems with blade edges wearing out and creating imbalances and moisture damage. And not recyclable, are dumped in landfills.

President Trump’s criticism of windmills was in a speech where he was introduced by Rush Limbaugh who flat out stated that “Climate Change is a Hoax”.

I always wondered if my 1981 term paper at Texas Tech University contributed to the gross expansion of wind turbines over the years.

A feasibility study of wind flow of the Texas High Plains & Rolling Pains.

Forecasted output and recovery of costs of investments.

Conclusion was that such projects would have to rely on government subsidies such as those in place in 1981.

Nuclear power IS dangerous. This is a FACT. The history of nuclear power is a warning. As long as we have viable alternatives (natural gas, coal, oil, hydro, etc.) we would be crazy to take the widespread, thousands years, horrendous risks.

It is almost like the socialism argument of “they just didn’t do it right”. NO, the ‘product’ is too DANGEROUS. It has been PROVEN too dangerous. This isn’t like the ‘fake dangerous’, like global warming. This is something we actually know to be REAL, and has been done before.

Chernobyl, as horrible as it was, could have been far worse.
People make mistakes. And systems fail. Materials are not perfect. And there are no dummy proof, fail-safe, nuclear disasters that don’t have the potential to end all life as we know it in a VERY short time like Nuclear power can.

Unless something has changed the cost to manufacture and deply a windmill is more that the cost of all the energy it will produce in its lifespan... without subsidies the entire wind industry would close shot tomorrow

If enough windmills were built to generate a SIGNIFICANT amount of energy, say 35%, it would change the climate faster than the burning of any fossil fuel because changing the wind changes the climate. Liberals never learn. You can’t get something for nothing.

Yeah, ten years seems doable. NOT! Consequences if not met? No clue.

For Democrats this is easy: just move the goalposts out another 10 years and keep trying to gain total control over our lives.

I’m also in Nevada, hoping the idiot mandate can be repealed sooner than later.
It will eventually be repealed, or continually delayed, when it becomes impossible to deny that it is IMPOSSIBLE to achieve.

Dare I mention my own support for new generation Nuclear power here tonight?
Saw the shouting match above.
Surprised at it. There have been several threads here and elsewhere examining new nuclear tech that cannot melt-down.
Most are due to designs that require a form of energy input to sustain the reaction.
Power is interrupted the reaction ceases, simple and elegant.
No, I do not have links, but do recall the articles.
