But then there were no written rules governing the timetable for a Senate decision on Barack Obama's nomination of Merrick Garland, only custom. If Speaker Nancy Pelosi follows Senator Mitch McConnell's playbook, Donald Trump will never stand trial in the Senate.

this impeachment was not for anything done wrong.. it was only because they hate him for winning .. not legit..and the house can do nothing more.

Now the left are really screwed, does she want to take that chance in this booming economy, and nothing is sticking from what they are throwing.?
The real danger for the Dem party is if the House and Senate and presidency are lost to the GOP. There are a lot of leftists that would see this as proof that the DNC will get them nowhere, and with the Dem Socialists of America putting a caucus together, you may see them flip to that party, especially if Bernie joins them.
If that happens, you may see some blue-leaning purple districts in the rust belt and so on flip red as the DSA could take 10% of the vote. The formation of the DSA as a real part that the Greens could never be would be a real boon for the GOP.
So she’s going to rig the 2020 election by waiting till then to submit the charges? Mkay.

He still has the same powers and has not been removed from office. But the history books will reflect that he was the 3rd President to be impeached. Impeachment is a House function.
It’s only days after the impeachment and many seem to be wrapped around the axle just because the House hasn’t formally sent the Articles to the Senate. Nothing happens until January anyway ... so Nancy is just playing cat and mouse trying to see how the Senate rules play out. Just gamesmanship.

Technically, how long can she hold onto them?
If no expiration, they’re just going to target the Senate for the next election - not the Presidency. If they become the majority in the Senate and *then* pull the trigger on delivering impeachment they’ll have a sham Senate trial too.
Then it’ll be a literal war.
