Former Republican Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin drew widespread condemnation last week when reports highlighted that he had pardoned more than 400 convicted criminals in his final days in office. Bevin justified his actions by telling The Washington Post, "I'm a believer in second chances."
In a wide-ranging interview with Kentucky's WHAS on Thursday, Bevin offered a fresh defense for perhaps his most controversial pardon, that of Micah Schoettle, a 41-year-old man who was convicted of raping a 9-year-old last year.
Bevin's justification: There was no physical evidence of abuse and the girl's hymen was "intact."

At least belive in re-incarceration.
These pardons have gone on forever. I grew up by the Governor’s Mansion (70’s) and you’d see the cons wandering around the grounds “working” just waiting til the end of the governor’s term...so they’d get their pardons. If you’d been a “good little boy” in prison, you got a chance for this program.
It’s just now a problem? Wasn’t a problem when the DemonRats had a 100 plus year run as governor...only just now? Pffft. It’s been a tradition of the office forever.
Funny, WHAS never had a problem with the con (convicted for murder previously) working for a DemonRat governor when he wandered off down the street and raped and murdered a woman in the early 80’s. But that was OK, it was a DemonRat administration, so that makes it all liberal and loving.
So you have no problem with a governor or either party pardoning convicted murderers and child molesters?
Democrats are unfit to be leaders.
From Sneaker Fancy Smelosi to this guy, they just don't have to mental faculties to make sound decisions.
demoncRats need not apply...
It’s been happening for over 100 years. And now it’s only a problem because it was a Republican governor.
I believe that Juries decide whether the party is guilty or not-guilty. There is no 'innocence' ruling.
Maybe the DEMS need some new Presidential Candidates for the upcoming debates.
I have not followed the case. So I don’t know the exact of the charges. I just know his being released is all kinds of wrong.
Juries do not decide innocence. That is presumed. They decide whether the state has proven its case and return a guilty or not guilty verdict.
That sums it up.
And, when you drop the 9 year old girls Intact Hyman Bomb, you have lost the argument.
Bevin made the mistake of realizing that Kentucky’s pension system is in horrible shape and tried to fix it. The teachers didn’t like that.
Well, records aren’t open to the public in cases of sexual assault against children, but if it wasn’t vaginal penetration then it was probably forced oral or sodomy.
Bevin has joined Clinton with the “depends on what the meaning of is is” equivocation.
SPJNK.
As a NYer who of course wouldn’t be shocked if it happened here, I look at Kentucky and other states as places where this is virtually impossible.
I guess a bad apple will fall from any tree now and again.
The NY tree GROWS bad apples :)
Except for Trump and Rudy!
I stand corrected, thank you
I stand corrected, thank you
The only second chance any convict (of something like this)deserves is a second finishing round in the head in case they are still twitching
TXnMA
So he is giving this convicted rapist a second chance at her. Bet he gets the hymen this time. Bevin should be in jail
