Recently retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General Steven L. Kwast gave a lecture last month that seems to further signal that the next major battlefield will be outer space. While military leadership rattling the space sabers is nothing new, Kwasts lecture included comments that heavily hint at the possibility that the United States military and its industry partners may have already developed next-generation technologies that have the potential to drastically change the aerospace field, and human civilization, forever. Is this mere posturing or could we actually be on the verge of making science fiction a reality?
*snip*
Kwast delivered a lecture at Hillsdale College in Washington, D.C. on November 20, 2019, titled The Urgent Need for a U.S. Space Force. Kwasts wide-ranging speech described the power of new technologies to revolutionize humankind, referencing the competitive advantage the discovery of fire offered to early humans and the strategic value that nuclear weapons offered 20th-century superpowers. When it comes to current revolutionary technologies, Kwast says the the power of space will change world power forever and that its up to the United States military to leverage that power...
Around the 12:00 mark in the speech, Kwast makes the somewhat bizarre claim that the U.S. currently possesses revolutionary technologies that could render current aerospace capabilities obsolete:
"The technology is on the engineering benches today. But most Americans and most members of Congress have not had time to really look deeply at what is going on here. But Ive had the benefit of 33 years of studying and becoming friends with these scientists. This technology can be built today with technology that is not developmental to deliver any human being from any place on planet Earth to any other place in less than an hour."

They don’t listen very well do they? Knowing your background my money is on your opinion.
Trumps uncle John.
There isn’t a human being on earth, President Trump and my own Mother included, that I’d trust to make that decision for everyone else.
Anyone who ever says they’re doing something “for your own good” is a liar who means to harm yo or advance their own interests at your expense,
In some ways - aside from personal computing - it does seem like we haven't advanced much since the moon landings. The rate of change from 1900-1970 seemed faster. There may have been a "hockey stick" graph of technological advancement since then that we are not allowed to know anything about. Which makes all of the current political theater part of an elaborate hoax designed to keep the rubes distracted.
Not purely defensive.
We have a prompt ability to deliver a weapon within an hour, with either an explosive warhead or simply a kinetic kill (hitting a target when over 5-times the speed of sound is quite devastating).
Accuracy is a real ability and therefore, kinetic is an attractive option. And it has the ability to maneuver so over-flight of hostile countries not involved in the “war,” would not happen. It can also maneuver around friendly countries.
The US has had an R&D effort for this type of weapon system since the late 60’s and technology has evolved since then. Problem is, seriously, the lack of vision of the old school generals from each service. They simply will not fund the development/deployment. . .the 4-stars and CJCS basically say, “interesting, cool stuff. . .but nah, we need more [ships, aircraft, tank, etc. . .]”

Background and Issues” https://fas.org/sgp/crs/nuke/R41464.pdf
I think I read that book. Was very interesting.
But like most things similar, once you’ve done your research and reached a conclusion, then what? Your regular, boring life still goes on. That subject gets pushed into the recesses of your mind because you’re powerless to do anything with that conclusion for all intents and purposes.
For example, if I sincerely believed based on solid research that the U.S. Government has developed teleportation and the unlimited energy source necessary to operate it, what could I do about it? Even if I had a treatise written by the engineers on how to build the thing, it probably wouldn’t do me any good on a personal level, and the chances of having that sort of trove of info are about nil. So I’m left with a belief, some sketchy details and nothing actionable other than maybe try to convince others, for all the good that would do. Maybe, and it’s a huge maybe, if I had enough decent physics information, I could start along the same path the government took, without the benefit of quality researchers and unlimited funding, and try to replicate what they’ve done for commercial use or even just for my own satisfaction. Good luck with that.
I may as well believe the moon is made of green cheese.
Not saying that the pursuit isn’t worth it, just saying that the game, if it exists, is entirely controlled by the government and they will be the ones who decide what information gets out and how any tech gets used or not used, seen or unseen, known or unknown. What any of us believe to be true is pretty much irrelevant outside of our own minds.
I’m worried that the Chinese will get ahold of every secret we have. If you look at it seriously, you will see they are (and have been) launching a MASSIVE espionage campaign against us militarily, industrially and technologically.
I’ll bet they’re trying to seat Chinese spies into the various defense contractors and befriend those who work in sensitive areas.
Why not marry off a cute PRC gal to an egghead scientist working at Los Alamos? Sound far fetched?
No, it has already happened.

What he is talking about is at the fringes of space, e.g., communications. The US believes it can win a war with China simply by blinding the leadership and the military units. Once uncontested destruction of several targets are announced to the leadership they will surrender. Furthermore, there are plans to break China up into 19 different provinces or single nation entities to replace the monster of China. Leadership has been identified according to some folks.
But he does not say "deliver a functioning weapon system"....he says "deliver a human", which is a whole different animal.
Kwast story: I met him just after Gulf War I, I arrived Seymour Johnson AFB and Kwast was a young Lt but clearly even then, he was a great guy. Anyway, I was a Senior pilot (a star on top of the wings), and since I was newly arrived I was number 4 of a flight and Kwast was the flight lead.
Each person had flight planning responsibilities and Kwast assigned me to look up ATC freqs along the route. .so I pulled out the charts and started to locate the freqs and Kwast, an energetic new 4-ship flight lead, he was next to me and then said; “Here, let me show you how to find the freqs” and then took the enroute charts from me and started to instruct me on how to locate the freqs.
I was a Senior Pilot and also an instructor in two previous jets (I know how to find the freqs). I listened to Steve as he explained to me what to look for and such, and it was funny to see him starting to fixate on my wings as he slowly realized I was not some new pilot, just new to the squadron. His instruction eventually stopped. It was obvious he was embarrassed. No problem, I told him, I enjoyed his instruction.
Kwast is a good, Christian man.
For $100,000,000 a shot.
At this time the supersonic aircraft is most likely what he is referring to, although being “anyplace on the planet in 1 hour would indicate a speed in excess of about 12,500 mph.
Thank you.
Post 45 and 50 might be interesting.
Please know you and your family remain in my prayers. We never met in person, but nonetheless, I consider you a good man and friend, and that means a lot to me. I know many people but very few I call “friend.”
Not even close, waaay too high.
Betting blind, I think that part should be on Boeing and part on the current amalgamation including Lockheed
“My first thought was ‘I wonder how much the airlines and Boeing paid to keep that tech under wraps?’”
They paid nothing because they want to get funding and that means revealing what they can and revealing all to the senior generals with a need to know in DC. Acq guys hold the budget strings and technology advances quickly these days so getting the word out would help advance the timetable by fully funding R&D.
Thank you my friend. Family is doing well.
Isolating you from gravity means you have no mass, and limiting to the speed of light is because at that speed, you have infinite mass and can’t accelerate an infinite mass. So, if you can isolate/shield from gravity, you can move with essentially no limit. According to Hal Putoff. . .
Nope, well below that cost.
Good one! ;)
