A federal judge on Friday denied a challenge to a law that will allow New York to give driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants.
The law, which is set to go into effect next week, was facing its second challenge in court, the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle reports.
U.S. District Judge Gary Sharpe ruled against Rensselaer County Clerk Frank Merola, saying he lacked the legal capacity to bring the lawsuit against the state over the new law.
The lawsuit, which was tossed out without the judge ruling on the merits of the law itself, was the last chance to block it before state Department of Motor Vehicles offices open on Monday, the news outlet noted.
At least three other lawsuits are challenging the measure and are either pending or on appeal, but the law will begin being implemented Monday morning.
The law allows immigrants to use foreign-issued documents to prove their identity and age, and would not require a valid Social Security number to obtain a driver’s license in the state.

I just got the paperwork to renew my DL to get a Real ID compliant DL. They require not only a proof of citizenship (a current, but not expired passport works), two proof of residence like utility bills, etc. and my original Social Security card—cannot be laminated. My old DL is does not satisfy any of those requirements.
Is NY not issuing Real ID DLs?
So if it’s no big deal to impeach a President elected by 63 million voters, why is it such a big deal to impeach a judge engaging in political decisions?

The courts favorite way to avoid ruling on conservative cases is to rule “No Standing”. It doesn’t seem to work that way when the democrats have a gripe.

Can residents be issued pilot licensees without qualifying too? Illegals do not deserve to drive- they aren’t citizens- can you imagine if Americans broke into mexico, demanded schooling, jobs, government welfare, and demanded they be given driver’s licensees? How many think for one minute that mexico would put up with that?
Don’t know, just what I’ve been told. Folks in I think seven states that issue DL’s to illegal/non-citizens get a passport card which is the size of a DL but proves citizenship and is good for flights but not good for international travel.

I along with untold thousands of Marylanders have had to go back to the MVA with a list of documents to prove our identity, aka “ Real ID “ because they gave out so many fake licenses to’illegals
Serious Question: In SC, we can now get a special ID gold star on our Driver’s License for $25 ... you have to have proper ID to get it ... a local “bill” (light company, etc), a passport or a birth certificate and an already valid SC license. This star then gives you ID access to airplanes, etc. My question is when NY gives out these licenses to illegal immigrants, are they going to get the gold star ID on theirs? If so, then the gold star ID is a farce.
Since the REALID act requires proof of SSN, wont this invalidate NY drivers license from being REAL id compliant?
I listened to a call in a long time ago from a guy who explained that illegals get a TIN first, which then somehow lets them get an SSN. I about ran off the road, so I don’t remember all the details.
I hope this makes it to the SCOTUS.
As a constant air traveler I see signs in all airport TSA checkpoints that regular drivers licenses will no longer work for travel on air flights in October 2020.
Everyone in the USA has to obtain a new “Real ID” before that date or carry a Passport.
It is a drivers License with a gold star in the upper right.
This is because of Democrats handing out drivers licences to any visiting terrorist who asks for one.
