FBI director says he's ordering '40 corrective steps' following IG report

FBI Director Christopher Wray said Monday that the bureau is implementing more than 40 "corrective steps" in response to a Department of Justice inspector general report on the investigation into the Trump campaign and 2016 election interference.

The report found the FBI's decision to launch and carry out the investigation targeting four Trump campaign officials was not affected by political bias, a conclusion Wray highlighted while also noting the bureau fully cooperated with the nearly two-year internal review by Inspector General Michael Horowitz.

The report was, however, critical of certain aspects of the FBI’s handling of the investigation

"Accordingly, the FBI accepts the Report's findings and embraces the need for thoughtful, meaningful remedial action," Wray said in a response included in the nearly 500-page report.

"Because our credibility and brand are central to fulfilling our mission, we are also making improvements beyond those recommended by the OIG," Wray added.

The bureau is also making "significant changes" to its Confidential Human Source (CHS) Program to improve how it collects, documents and shares information about those sources.

Horowitz didn’t need extra time for his report. It was the FIB that needed the delays to prepare this CYA.

“...was not affected by political bias...”

And Hillary had no intent. Great job Horowitz. 2 years to figure out rationalization for the obvious criminality.

Please, by all means, let me know if Horowitz found anything suspicious about Strzok and Page’s phones being destroyed while under a Court order to preserve.

Surely, IG Horowitz doesn’t think that is coincidence #761

Horowitz is a Scam, and it’s known by everyone in and around Washington.

Like the ICIG (Whistleblower) acting in 8 days, Horowitz could have done this report in 60 days.

"'Mistakes were made. We'll learn from our mistakes and do a better job next time.'"

That is how i read the IG report. Page 410 recommendations. on operation crossfire
"We concluded that AD Priestap's exercise of discretion in opening the investigation was in compliance with Department and FBI policies, and we did not find documentary or testimonial evidence that political bias or improper motivation influenced his decision." https://www.oversight.gov/sites/default/files/oig-reports/120919-examination.pdf

Yes from the report a few will likely see criminal investigations but over all it's a whitewash

Wray is clinking glasses of high end bourbon with Comey right now and they're laughing their assess off.

But as far as the FIB, nobody in America will ever trust them again. Their reputation is in tatters, and no amount of highly publicized memos (ignored internally) instructing personnel to "act like you're legit" *wink wink* is going to change that.

I said many times Comey knew he was untouchable.

They don’t need 40 steps, only one step and that step is prosecution of those who abused the power of the FBI. However, with Wray at the helm, all we will see is coverup for his people and nobody held accountable. Everything out of Wray so far has been to cover for his people rather than cleaning house. While I respect Barr, I do not understand his faith in and support of Wray. It seems to me Wray is just another Mueller and Comey.

I have been an auditor for ISO and other quality systems for 25 years. Not full time but enough to recognize well run organizations. I have NEVER issued a report with 40 findings for any organization. That indicates an out of control operation.

These are just policy changes, wait til this trickles down to real laws like the Patriot Act, and other abuses of our freedom. More winning to come!

Sessions said he was proud as heck of his time at the DoJ.

He just didn’t say it that eloquently.

"Because our credibility and brand are central to fulfilling our mission, we are also making improvements beyond those recommended by the OIG," Wray added.

Too late, @sshole. Your credibility and brand are sh!t, and there's no recovering from that without disbanding the DOJ from top to bottom.

I've already decided that I will never sit on a jury and accept one shred of evidence against a criminal defendant that has collected or presented by an agent of the U.S. government. In fact, I'll simply conclude that the agent is lying, the evidence is tainted, and the prosecutor is a corrupt political hack.

The Steele dossier was know to be fraudulent but DOJ launched the spying anyway? So fraudulent it would not even be reported by any of the Fake News outlets? Even MSNBC refused to take it seriously. The report even quotes Comney as saying it could not be taken seriously.

Yet the DOJ Dept of Cover Ups can find no illegality or corruption in launching the spying? It clear all IGs need to be abolished. The partisan rot has set too deep, the Govt cannot investigate itself anymore It will have to be done by outsiders from now on
