Notre Dame and the Curse of the Peacock

In the hunt for the BCS playoffs seedings are the usual suspects with Ohio State, Clemson and two members of the Southeast Conference (neither one named Alabama) vying for one or both of the other spots in the four school playoffs.

Pac 12 Utah and Big 12 schools Baylor and Oklahoma also maintain outside chances if everything falls into place and goes their way. It is a low percentage shot, one even on which the bookies aren’t willing to provide odds, but it is better than a number of schools that are ranked in the 25 but will only be watching the ESPN drama wondering in what part of the sunbelt region they’ll be spending time on the beach and catching some rays while the rest of America figures out how to stay warm as winter snows blanket the rest of the nation.

Notice one school missing from the playoffs discussion.

Notre Dame.

They have recorded double digit wins again. Something they have done four times since 2012.

And they were in the talk last year finishing the “regular season“ unbeaten with a dozen wins.

Then Clemson squashed them in the semifinals, a game that wasn’t even as close as the final score 30-3 indicated.

In 2012 Notre Dame did make an appearance in the Championship Game as they again finished 12-0, but alas The Crimson Tide devastated the Irish and their vaunted defense, Notre Dame losing again in a game that wasn’t as close as the score of 42-14 indicated.

But in actuality if it weren’t for a coupla quirks in the schedule and a couple of controversial calls in both seasons, ND would never have sniffed the title or playoff games.

Notre Dame has been a cursed institution ever since they invited the vile abortion loving Obama to give their commencement address and conferred on the satanic Obama a Doctor of Laws degree from what had been ostensibly a Catholic institution.

Nah, they were cursed well before that. :-) Ted Hesburgh was perfectly content to side with liberal priests and bishops who undermined Catholic teaching right and left.

Plus, I think the Catholic institution may be a sign of what is going on in the Catholic religion right now too. Think Pope and the politicians. Maybe this is just coming to light now.

Under the current structure, you can’t make the playoffs with two losses. This year, Notre Dame has two losses. End of story.

Utah lost last night. They were #5 in the rankings. If Georgia loses to LSU today, the winner of the Baylor-Oklahoma game will be in the playoffs.

Notre Shame is invited to playoffs and Bowl Games because they bring rating numbers and fans to the games. ND still has a lot of “subway” alumni living all over the country. It’s all about the eyeballs tuned into the networks. The entire playoff system is a sham.

Just because you are not winning national championships does not mean they are not a winning program. They do have higher academic standards than many of the perennial contenders and they are located in South Bend, not exactly a garden spot for top recruits from warmer climes. Winning 10+ games and playing new year’s day are laudable accomplishments.

Unbeaten on a schedule including Bowling Green, the Naval Academy, and New Mexico wouldn’t have meant much.

The formally Catholic little school on the Saint Joseph River cursed itself when Father Jenkins had protesters who were praying the Rosary on the grounds of the University of Our Lady arrested. They were protesting the presence of Barry Obama the abortionist. Jenkins being the low life he is, would NOT drop the charges and even though those arrested included three fellow priests TWO of which were from his own Order, he stood fast. One of those priests died before Jenkins relented. THAT was the last straw for me. I sent back my ND hat with thirty silver dimes. They have been cursed ever since with only the girls basketball team winning a national championship. FND.

Never heard that story. Jenkins is despicable. And notice how Jenkins is silent when the Pope calls Trump King Herod.

Jenkins is nothing but a Leftist politician and Obama butt kisser.
