Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Integration, Olena Zerkal, said that the American New York Times quoted her interview as a significant detachment from the context, resulting in active media speculation that hurt Ukraine and the US.
The Mirror has published an open letter to newspaper editor asking for a revised version of the interview and the letter itself. However, the New York Times does not want to correct the text and adheres to the author's version.
"During the interview, I made it very clear that at the end of July we did not know why the process of distributing military assistance to Ukraine was not completed. We had no reason to believe that the military assistance had actually been frozen. In the interview, I noted that were "issues" and that our embassy in the US had restricted telegrams sent daily to both the Foreign Ministry and the President's Office. I also clearly stated (and confirmed in an email sent) that "there were no the reasons and the delay time are clear, "the letter said.
However, what was written in the article is misleading because it means that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine was aware of specific information, she explains.
"After this part of the conversation, I told the journalist very clearly and with the prerequisite that it was off-the-record (not for publication) - that I was going to confer with Mr Ermak and a number of other issues. Unfortunately, though there were very clear that this is off-the-record (not for publication), the journalist decided to quote me directly about it, and the next day after the publication, the journalist emailed me asking for "permission" to quote what we had agreed to be off- the-record (not for publication). I consider such actions unprofessional, "- said diplomat.
The article also made a number of speculative claims about her trip to Washington, says Mirror.
"As discussed during the interview and in my response email, the purpose of the trip to Washington was to discuss North Stream 2 issues as well as sanctions against Russia. Inevitably, issues related to the impeachment process could arise, However, the article made a number of extremely speculative statements that were not reflected in what we were actually discussing, "the ex-teller said.
Also written did not reflect the discussion of the issue of her release, says Mirror.
"During the interview, I made it clear that I had personal reasons to leave the government. I made it clear during the interview and in the emails in response to the publication of the article," Mirror explains.
Journalist Andrew Kramer wrote that "last week, she resigned from her post in protest against back channel diplomacy both with the Trump administration last summer and with Russia this fall, providing insider information on when to go." officials in Kiev learned about the freeze and how they tried to keep the information from becoming public. "
Mirror emphasizes: "I was very disappointed to learn that in the interview I gave to Andrew Kramer of the New York Times, I was quoted in a significant detachment from the context, and much of the interview did not accurately reflect my position.
I have many links like this that contain information in Ukrainian that differ from what gets reported in America - I will try to get to them. The most important part of this article is copied in the excerpt text
She must not understand how “the newspaper of record” goes about the process of creating its “record”
It sure would’ve been nice if 0bama had been procto-logically ‘examined’ like this during his Reign of Error!
Glad those involved in this BOGUS ‘impeachment’ BS are speaking up!
George Soros and his backers (nations hostile to The United States) must be absolutely amazed at how cheap they can buy the whores at the New York Times.
What the Ukrainian lady does NOT understand is that the REAL name of the NYT should be: THE LYING NY SLIMES.
THE SLIMES misrepresents the news as often as they actually/simply tell THE TRUTH.
Fwiw, THE TRUTH is THE TRUTH & it is NOT opinions, feelings, wishful thinking or anything else except JUST the FACTS.
Yours, TMN78247
Since she is Russian and their news service is called PRAVDA (truth) she MUST know that all their media publish fairy tales.
I think at this point it’s the whores at the NYTs who are paying Soros for the privilege.
Pravda on The Hudson, true to form as a source of disinformation, intentionally disinforming its readers, in service to its own political agendas.
He can still be procto-logically examined. After all, they are asking President Trump to testify.
Hmm I got the impression, from the title, that she was the Ukrainian Foreign Minister. 8>)
“The Reign of Error of Æthelblack the Unready”
It's the New York Times. That's how they roll.
The truth dies in their darkness. #FakeNews
