Jonathan Turley 'inundated with threatening messages' after testimony opposing Trump impeachment

Jonathan Turley, the sole Republican witness during the House Judiciary Committee's first public impeachment hearing Wednesday, said he was "inundated with threatening messages" after his testimony, which argued that Democrats do not have enough evidence to support articles of impeachment against President Trump.

"Before I finished my testimony, my home and office were inundated with threatening messages and demands that I be fired from George Washington University for arguing that, while a case for impeachment can be made, it has not been made on this record," Turley wrote in an op-ed for The Hill on Thursday.

The law professor at George Washington University Law School appeared alongside three other legal scholars with opposing views Wednesday and warned that Democrats would be ill-advised to rush to a vote on impeachment articles because they do not have a complete record of witness testimonies and supporting evidence to prove that Trump abused his power to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to open an investigation into 2020 Democratic candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden's business dealings there in exchange for military aid.

While his politics maybe miles and miles apart from everyone on this site, his fairness, intellect and respect for the law has to be respected. I’m curious to know if he’s one of those sneaky lib’s that has a pistol in the house. If not, he might need one. If SCOTUS were ever going to be 7-2 or 8-1, I think it’d be great to have him on there. T

hat being said, it seems like now he’s witness to, firsthand, and victim to the Leftist mob that he tends to lean toward.

He gets to see and hear what those on the Right have to had to deal with for quite some time. What happens when the loony Leftists show up at his house? All fun and games when you watch it happen to someone else.

Who knows, maybe he’ll come to the realization that the team he’s been playing for, for so long, really is a bunch of temperamental, spoiled kids and might be time to at least become an Independent.

My respect for Turley has risen now that I see the condemnation he's facing -- and knew was coming.

it’s difficult for me to muster any sympathy for this Democrat. He is intelligent, and there has been plenty of time and warning signs for him to come to realizations regarding his Party.
His rationalization is surely that “the people threatening him do not represent his Party”.
A special kind of useful idiot.

“inundated” meaning “receiving multiple messages from the same dozen diseased drug addicts in an Antifa cell.” This is something that elected Republicans might eventually learn; that getting thousands of emails doesn’t mean that thousands of people are sending them. The Hush Rush thing is the perfect example. Professor Turley is a pretty smart guy. I’m sure he knew this was coming. He just needs to take a few precautions while these deranged weirdos move on to their next fake outrage.

witness testimonies and supporting evidence to prove that Trump abused his power to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to open an investigation into 2020 Democratic candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden's business dealings there in exchange for military aid.

There is a very disturbing unspoken assumption here, and it seems that no one is pointing it out. That is, that the American people have no right to know whether a DemocRAT former VP and present presidential candidate used his office unethically and illegally to coerce favors from a foreign country.

I, for one, would like to know that everyone, regardless of party, behaves in an ethical manner and does not engage in cronyism, coercion, insider trading, nepotism, etc. I believe that the American people deserve an uncorrupt government.

I’m not sympathetic to him nor should anyone. For him to believe or say that these people don’t represent his party is pretty ignorant. Shows the bubble he’s in.

My thing with him is, so far, he applies and interprets the law in a fair manner.

Him saying that these people don’t represent his party is not different than pacifists saying terrorists don’t represent islam. The bubble he lives in has sheltered him from what has been going in Seattle, Portland, college campuses all over the country and various highways/roads that ANTIFA has decided to block.

Professor Turley, you’re a well-read man.

I am sure you have at some point in your career had a chance to read Rules for Radicals.

This is EXACTLY the sort of thing Alinsky was trying to inject into our body politic. With great success apparently.

Why are you surprised?

Turley is NOT a Republican.

I saw somewhere that he said he did not vote for Trump. So his "testimony" rings more true than the other biased Trump-haters.
