House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) investigated Ranking Member Devin Nunes (D-CA) as part of his impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, the committee report revealed on Tuesday.
The revelation that Schiff had obtained telephone records related to Nunes was the only new revelation in the report, which otherwise re-hashed Democrats’ arguments in favor of impeaching Trump for allegedly asking Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election.
In a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Schiff declined to say when the committee had obtained the records, but given the Democrats’ repeated questions during the inquiry about administration officials who had worked with Nunes, such as former Intelligence Committee staffer (now National Security Council official) Kash Patel, it is likely the Democrats sought those records before or during the hearings.
The report cites media reports that Lev Parnas, an associate of Rudy Giuliani who has ben indicted on campaign finance charges, claimed that Nunes tried to meet with Ukrainians to “dig up dirt” on former Vice President Joe Biden. (Nunes had threatened to sue those media outlets, and did so on Tuesday, suing CNN for defamation; he does not appear to have been given an opportunity to answer the allegations in the report.)

I didn’t think anything else the Dems did would shock me, but this is truly shocking. The Dems are bulldozing right through the Constitution, House rules and any shred of decency. They have complained for over 65 years about “McCarthyism,” yet are practicing the most virulent anti-Americanism this country has ever seen.
Nunes became “Ranking Member” of the House Permanent Select Intelligence Committee when the 2018 elections produced a Democrat Controlled House. Like Kevin McCarthy who was Speaker, and is now “Minority Leader” in the House, Nunes had to step down as MAJORITY Chairman position, and hand this over
to the
PSYCHOPATH Schifft. Schifft has BETTER have had a KNOWN Subpoena (known to the whole committee, btw) for Nunes’ phone records... or Schifft is headed for the slammer. And he had better watch his faggot a@@ because he’s going to beaten- (not by Nunes, but Nunes has a case for REMOVING Schifft from Congress). YOU DO NOT get personal phone records from the Minority Ranking Member of your committee who sits next to you in session.

IF you have subpoena powers like Schiff does you can get any phone records you want, even private citizen’s records. That’s why these people are so dangerous, they are like a secret police.
What they can’t get without a warrant is an actual recording of the conversation. The fact that Nunes has talked with Viktr Shokin about the facts in his firing is totally innocuous unless you are worried that Joe Biden did something wrong.
Dems know they don’t have the votes to convict in the Senate. Conviction has never been the main goal of the coup. They’ll settle for hamstringing him and defetaing him in 2020. I expect he’ll win but after the midterms the Dems must be confident in their game plan, too.

I will agree with that. As a Member of the House he is bound by the House Code of Conduct which among other things stipulates that a Member not engage in conduct un-becoming to the House of Representatives. Would his long trail of outright lies to the public not qualify as unbecoming conduct? Apparently their Code of Conduct is meaningless.
It may not have much significance but at the LEAST why have the Republican Members not filed a grievance on this and at least have it in the historical record?

Nothing Dems do ever shocks me. They are after all the party of the KKK and fellow travelling communists. What shocks me is the doormat GOP. They steadfastly refuse to substantively engage the ongoing coup against a GOP POTUS and in fact green light it. It’s the first time in nearly 250 years of American history that a POTUS does not have the support of his own party.

You got that right. I've seen indications that IF (big if) The House does Impeach Mr. Trump, Schiff will be called to the Senate to explain this illegal phone search act. And the other illegal actions such as collusion with the so called whistleblower.

I think Dems are (rightly) afraid that impeaching Trump will only increase his poll numbers and increase his chances of reelection.

The House has Constitutionally legal subpoena power.
The entire House vote to award that power to the 3 Committees involved in the investigation.
BUT, I cannot imagine the DOJ honoring such a subpoena.
This leads me to believe Schiff has ONLY records from the House office switchboard. That would be something he could obtain.
But if he has anything else, it’s an illegal wiretap and violation of civil rights Under Color of Law.
Do you need a warrant for phone records? I don’t recall needing one when chasing after deadbeats who blew town for a collection firm. It’s SOP.

The senior member of a committee on the minority side is always referred to as the “Ranking Member”.
I think this is going to end in censure. That’s the only way they can avoid this, but then every rabid leftie is going to be screaming that the Dems betrayed them. The Dems chose the money part of their party over the rabid left, because the DNC HAS NO MONEY.
