Moving federal agencies to the heartland would get struggling states hooked on big government

Let’s just keep the slime on the East Coast. /s
Most Swampers are puffed-up and full of themselves. They would not deign themselves to living in cultural backwaters like Des Moines, Amarillo or Pocatello. They’d quit first. And frankly that’s a win for us all.
I’d like to see Washington DC de-populated. It’s the 21st century — they don’t need to congregate in one infested location. Spread ‘em out. Get them closer to real people. And make almost all of their communication electronic and recordable rather than some whispered hallway discussion.
Many a revenoor has vanished in the back 40...just sayin.
I think ALL Federal Agencies should be based in US Territories, NOT States. Puerto Rico and Guam sound nice to me.
Swamp creatures want to see some real swamp. Ok then!
The WSJ used to be a reliable news source. The WSJ forgot their readers about 20 plus years ago and instead became a megaphone for government and business press releases.
When Trump moves federal agencies to the heartland, the WSJ reporters will no longer have the easy access they currently enjoy in the swamp.
On the other hand the Heartland will positively influence the government workers rather than the government workers negatively influencing the Heartland.
I respectfully disagree. Just look at what happened to Va as the DC culture moved into that state. The good peopleof Va didn’t influence the government workers, instead the state turned blue.
Yep, as I long ago said:

“It is Time to DownSize DC.”
Close entire non-functional departments and shrink the ones that contribute some value for the nation to a point it is manageable and efficient.
And move the center of gravity of the Federal Government away from the terminal corruption of DC and the foreign and domestic lobbyists.
The proposed Ag Department move to KC is already proving this point.

I agree with you 100%.
I had a career in the tech industry and eventually had 11 employees under me, all at least 2,000 miles away (think gaming industry).
My manager, Johnny, in Delaware drove a Mustang and had a rented house in a neighborhood that was, uh, muh...
We flew Johnny out to Corporate HQ in Montana (for training) and had him stay at another employees parents house who knew Johnny well - 20 acres in the Bridger Mountain Range with SPECTACULAR views (likely $1.5 million today).
All he could do was to look at the view and wince. When asked what he thought of the view he replied that it was horrible, the worst thing he’d ever seen.
I believe we need these ‘swamp types’ to move to the flat-lands and loose their minds!
Va is not far enough...
High tax Maryland probably drove a lot of socialists to locate in northern Virginia. Toss in all of the Obama immigrants and you have a new democrat state. I see where southern Virginia counties are now becoming 2nd amendment sanctuaries.
I mean look at Strozk and Page. They thought of Loudoun County, Virginia, which was like 40 miles away, as some Hillbilly Hollow. The condescension just dripped from their mouths. They would literally die if forced to move to Arkansas or someplace.
As long as trillions upon trillions of dollars slosh into the Fed government every year, The Swamp will never be drained.
Near Mattoon, IL. Good freeway connections and Illinois is a hopeless case anyway. Don't fill a Republican state with federal employees who will always vote Democrat.
Nah. The gov, lobbyist and media players (like WSJ) do NOT like the idea of going away from the high life and A-lister parties. The thought of living around, and like, us unwashed Walmart serfs must disgust them.
My every encounter with them in my career generally confirmed that. I was on a trip to DC a coup,e months ago and was going into a parking garage on 6th St at Pennsylvania Ave by the Capital Grille. I was opening the door for myself and my BIL when three suits came barreling up from the other side and barged through, brushing us off, with nary a glance at us or a thank you for opening the door for them. The haughty air of superiority really got to me. They got into a car that my BIL thought was in the intel community based on the plates. It entitlement attitude was disgusting.
