...Because adults at places like Bucknell and Holy Cross have convinced them they are oppressed....
Few things upset American college students more than being told they arent oppressed. I recently spoke at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. I argued that American undergraduates are among the most privileged individuals in history by virtue of their unfettered access to knowledge. Far from being discriminated against, students are surrounded by well-meaning faculty who want all of them to succeed. About 15 minutes into my talk, as I was discussing Renaissance humanism, a majority of the audience in the packed auditorium stood up and started chanting: My oppression is not a delusion! The chanters then declared that my sexism, racism and homophobia werent welcome on campus. You are not welcome, they added, as if I didnt know. The protesters drowned out my response before filing slowly out of the room, still loudly announcing their victimhood and leaving dozens of seats empty that could have been filled by students who had been turned away for lack of space. (The protesters had hoped to occupy the entire auditorium before vacating it, so no one else could hear me speak.)

Heather Mac Donald is one of the smartest people writing on modern policing. If you havent read her series on The Ferguson Effect, you should.
People are afraid of the truth, it upsets the apple cart.
If they didnt allow her to speak, who was being oppressed?
Indoctrination into the cultist Progressive ideology reflects itself in a person's observations and comments on today's sad occurrences. When one sees his world through that limiting lens, then truth and objectivity, reason and enlightenment seem to abandon every discussion.
How blessed are those students who have gone through that school experience with parents who have guided them, who have advised them, and who have provided a counterweight to the ideas promoted by textbooks and teaching techniques designed to weed out parental, church and community teachings about faith and family.
No one likes having their participation trophy revoked.
Took my son to Bucknell this Fall for a college visit.
EVERY single person we met from the school’s Admissions Office introduced themselves the same way: “Hi, I’m Fred (or whatever), I’m from Allentown, and my personal pronouns are he, him, and his.”
We heard it 20 times. But then, while on the tour, our student guide asked me as we walked along, “Where does your son go to school?”
The hypocricy was laughable. It is all a show - they don’t believe it themselves.
The intolerant left—true to their origins.
They hate the “marketplace of ideas” and free speech.
That’s because their ideas will not prevail if they are subjected to honest examination.
They must suppress debate and shut down opposing views if they are to realize their goals.
“Safe space” snowflakes = prejudiced and closed-minded.
“In a time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
George Orwell
Idiots always hate the truth—it is a constant reminder that they are idiots.
Me. :-)
Someone was just saying on another thread how we need to stop calling them ‘progressives’, etc.
The name gives a false premise and totally misunderstood of what progress is.
You shell know the truth and the truth shall set you free. John 8:32.
We visited Bucknell back in 2007 I believe. Everyone was very nice but I am so glad my son decided no to attend there.
I like the word “progressive”.
They want to bankrupt the country, destroy all of our liberties, and send white people to concentration camps as “reparations” for slavery.
_That_ is what _they_ mean by progress.
The Era of The Brat. To think we are living it.
Absolutely they are not progressives, they are leftist totalitarian fascists.
I’m surprised. The Cross used to be such a good college. The Jesuits made it so.
We’re going to be fighting these snowflakes morons real soon.
Holy Cross yearly tuition and fees, without room and board: $54,740.
Down the old drain.
