The self-described “last Republican on the Upper West Side” will join family for Thanksgiving dinner and arrive fully armored.
“Well, I hope to have a good time,” Suzanne Pederson said of the annual family celebration, “but I probably won’t.”
This will be the nation’s fourth Thanksgiving since Donald Trump was elected president and the first since the Democrats’ perpetually simmering effort to impeach him fanned into flame. That development has some professionals cautioning that even a perfectly cooked turkey and stuffing can be ruined by a political fight at the table.
Knowing few Manhattan lairs are welcome to President Trump’s supporters, Ms. Pederson said, she has no intention of mentioning the president’s name or policies, but as a guest of devout Democrats, she expects political topics to arise anyway.
“The thing I hate the most is being baited and falling for it,” she said. “When they sidle up and say, ‘Help me understand what appeals to you about him,’ when you know you’re on the Upper West Side and they’re not listening to a word I say.”

Now is the time to embrace it. I know it’s easier said than done, but if these “devout” Democrats (it boggles the mind to imagine what one must be like) wish to bait our heroine, then she should give it to them with both barrels in a civil yet condescending manner.
Their hate is based on lies. Most Americans now pay little attention to the angry violent Democrat misfits who can’t stand hearing the truth. Truth sounds like hate to those who hate truth.

There is no one more pitiful than the straight white male Trump-hater. I feel sorry for them. I really do. They think they're going to have a seat at the table when the intersectionalists take over. Useful idiots. They'll be marched to the gallows just like the rest of us.
FWIW, I built one at my kitchen table with hand tools and it runs like a top.
I met my son’s girlfriend’s family for the first time last night. It was a huge birthday celebration and get together. Toward the end, I was enjoying talking to his girlfriend’s grandparents who are only a few years older than me. Grandma began steering our nice conversation toward politics and grandpa uttered “uh oh.” I was cagey and remained neutral until Grandma said “I’m a life-long Republican.”
Whew! What a relief that was. Then we had a nice discussion about what’s really on our minds. Turns out Grandpa is a Democrat, but he seems dismayed that the party has run off the rails with the crop of communists running for POTUS. Grandma and Grandpa have learned how to not discuss politics much each other.
We’re spending the weekend with my daughter and son in-law in Northern California. A flag over the front door reads “Don’t Tread on Me.” Nuff said.
With candidates like Biden Warren Bernie etc. they should be on the defensive.
I always refer to the President as “President Trump” and “President Obama”. Drives progressives batty....make that battier.
I’ll bet many lefties are embarassed by the shifshow and don’t even want to talk about it.
I’m looking forward to reading these stories with a chuckle... I have no leftists in my daily life (no contact any more with the few leftist distant-ish relatives I have) ... so... more popcorn please ...
