Attorney General Barr Stands athwart History

Shakespeare made famous the phrase "There is a tide in the affairs of men" ("Julius Caesar," Act IV, Scene III), that acknowledges that certain situations gain momentum and become ripe for influencing the future, determining fate. Certainly, we are living in such a time — momentous, unprecedented events are happening that will affect the direction of our nation for the foreseeable future. After all the Sturm und Drang of the impeachment efforts of the Resistance that have divided the country for the last three years, Attorney General William Barr recently gave two speeches that were rhetorical masterpieces. The speeches could not have been given at a more critical juncture in the unfolding crisis, nor could the carefully researched and expertly developed arguments have been more needed, more appropriate. The content of the two speeches form a solid basis of a case against the Resistance. The passion and the masterful rhetoric of the speeches give them the potential for Barr to stand athwart history and determine the direction of the nation for the future.

Throughout history, great speeches have challenged people to rise above self-interest to do what is noble and right. Great speakers have used their positions or their influence to "inspire and unite people during times of struggle"; they have "met moments of great adversity with words both vigorous and poignant, giving voice to the challenges of their time." The "impact on history" of such speakers "will be determined in the future." Reasonable people, reading Barr's carefully constructed arguments for religious freedom and faithful originalists' interpretation of the Constitution, would be compelled and motivated by Barr's words.

Look at the timing

Just think about it....

Did these phony impeachment proceedings give him any material evidence. We shall see.

Yes,yes - indictments are the key - then have all their dirty laundry exposed for public viewing. Regardless of the legal outcomes, these actions will help preserve the republic.

Your #13 outlines the issue very well, but I think your conclusion is largely wishful thinking:
- They may skate on the charges when all’s said and done, but even then, they will have gone through years of financial and emotional stress, thereby discouraging future such illegal/borderline illegal fishing expeditions against the other party’s political candidates.

History suggests any stress experienced by the "skaters" will be hailed as a worthy sacrifice in the totalitarian's long march rather than a discouragement. In any event, illegal actions v political candidates is but a small part of their game plan.

IMO, until Trump, America appeared unwilling to recognize or effectively confront that larger game plan. That may be due to the fact its voters have been intentionally "dumbed down" so as to be seduced by insincere politicians. The voters have settled for the ease of a weak defense rather than accept the rigors of a strong offense.

So tired of seeing Freepers knock the good guys. Go after the Dems.....

Well, then let's see some action. I'm sick and tired of seeing good guys like Roger Stone get railroaded while Crooked Hillary and her ilk walk around scot-free.

Rhetoric is worthless. We don't need more rhetoric. We need people with moral courage and the determination to bring traitors to justice.

Barr is just another Lucy. And I am sick of our country being treated like Charlie Brown.

Yeah - he should go all Schiff on them instead of acquiring all the facts and evidence first....right?

Why do so many here keep going after the good guys for trying to do it right?

And why do so many of them not donate a farthing to the cause as they blather and give us their opinions/emotions/presumptions?

Um ... wjcsux ... your math is shaky, even though your heart is in the right place.

corrupt politician + 10’ of rope + one 30’ lamppost

Who will be climbing up 20 feet of lamppost to tie off the rope? I’m having an issue trying to visualize this set-up.

The nature of these things is that you never really get to the bottom of them. The threads are too many, and many have been long buried by cutout actors. Arriving at the source is almost impossible in Intelligence operations, as they are designed to lead to dead ends.

But while we can’t know everything, we may certainly know enough.

I will criticize no skeptic who thinks that the wrongdoers will not be brought to justice. Seriously, the skeptics have a pretty solid record of the last 11 years to base an opinion on. That said, I do have some hope: I think Barr has integrity and is very smart. If a full on whitewash is what is in store, he knows his anti-resistance speeches would make him look like a chump

“Look at the timing

Yeah, my mind has kind of been dancing around the timing of the release of the IG report. I don’t know, though, that DOJ has announced it will be on Dec. 9. As far as I know, the only source of that is Lindsey Graham. I presume it will happen, because if it doesn’t, Graham will look like a fool. So apparently it will happen while the impeachment inquisition is still ongoing. Will it have an impact on the decision as to whether or not to impeach? Certainly not directly, but maybe indirectly as far as having an impact on the public sentiment.

The Bible is not a war plan.

I politely but forcefully disagree you, in the strongest imaginable terms.

If you watch these 'hearings' you should have noticed that NONE of these idiots don't seem to mind being thought of as a fool.

Then again, when one (thinks) they are 'superior' to all, we aren't supposed to pick up on such facts.

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt

Yes and no. Leftists who go through hard times, no matter how culpable or evil, become heroes for the cause and usually end up with cushy jobs at Soros funded groups. They will get $100,000 speaking engagements and so forth for many years. The left takes care of its criminals and liars.
