Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who is now a CNN contributor, said Thursday night that he was restricted from discussing the network's exclusive report surrounding an FBI official under investigation by the Department of Justice Inspector General.
The FBI official is under investigation for allegedly manipulating a document used to obtain a FISA warrant of Trump campaign adviser Carter Page during the 2016 presidential campaign.
McCabe appeared on "Cuomo Prime Time" with anchor Chris Cuomo on Thursday night after the CNN.com story broke earlier Thursday.
"My understanding is this: Andrew, you can't talk about it," Cuomo said in introducing McCabe. "You're restricted from discussing the report of the investigation."
"I've currently reviewed the report. I'm in the process of doing that," McCabe replied. "Ive agreed not to speak about it in any way until that process is over,"
"OK, I'll respect that," Cuomo said.
The alleged altering of the FISA warrant request, per CNN, was uncovered as part of Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz's probe into whether the FBI followed proper protocol and internal bureau guidelines upon applying for a warrant to surveil Page in 2016.

McCabe has a copy of the report and is reviewing it and can't talk about it?
Why isn’t he in jail?
It's an abomination that he is even employed by CNN. If they had an ounce of decency they'd fire him.
Unless he is reviewing the report in order to give his comments as a subject of the report -
I believe every person who is cited by name in the report has an opportunity to review the report and make objections to the information presented about them.
Why would HE have a copy of this report and who gave it to him?
This is another leak. He can’t talk about who is about to be indicted. But he will be talking about why indicting that person is wrong soon enough. That’s how propaganda works.
Why would McCabe have access to the report? Who would give it to him and why?
Barr declined to prosecute.
McCabe and Comey were both referred for prosecution, both declined.
Yes, all those mentioned in Horowitz report read their portion in SCIF to give them opportunity to correct mistakes. But they must sign NDA. However, they will leak to press now in order to create a slant they approve of or to mitigate news which makes them look like very, very bad guys.
At the very least, McCabe is a participant in all this FISA / Mueller stuff. He shouldn’t be offering commentary portrayed as being unbiased expert opinion. He’s an advocate for spinning, protecting, and advancing what he and his team did.
He doesnt have a copy...
You are correct!
This is one reason why the process has taken so long. If there are 200 different people referenced in the report, the IG must prepare 200 versions that are redacted differently for each person to review.
I hope that POS has to announce that “Andrew McCabe has arrested for his part in the coup cover-up. Agents broke into his home at 5 a.m. to retrieve evidence.
Everyone named in the report is given the opportunity to read and comment on that part (only) under non-disclosure (the “Principal Review” process). Apparently someone violated those term and leaked this bit to CNN, probably thinking they were doing pre-release damage control.
Thanks, that sounds plausible.
When will “reporters” be hauled up short and prosecuted for their unauthorized access to and use of classified information?
