NASA has vehemently denied that there are living "insect- and reptile-like creatures" on Mars, after a professor at Ohio University made the controversial claim earlier this week.
"The collective general opinion of the large majority of the scientific community is that current conditions on the surface of Mars are not suitable for liquid water or complex life," Alana Johnson, NASA's Public Affairs Officer, said in a statement to Fox News.
Johnson added that one of NASA's objectives is "the search for life in the universe" and with the upcoming Mars 2020 rover, the government space agency hopes to take the next steps "in exploring the potential of past life on the Red Planet."

But they’re changing the name to Barsoom anyway.

Revealing Mars' True Colors: Part One
"Getting the colors right is not an exact science," says Bell. "Giving an approximate view of what we'd see if we were there involves an artistic, visionary element as well after all, no one's ever been there before." However, great pains are taken to be as accurate as possible, short of going there ourselves.
To give people a sense of being on Mars, scientists combine views through telescopes, data from past Mars missions, and new information from the current mission to create a color-balanced, uniform scene. Color-corrected mosaics simulate the view a person would see if all the images in the mosaic were taken on the same day, at the same moment.
The Youtubers have a valid point. NASA can make Mars any color they want.

Of course, it's an old subject for some...
"Revealing the True Colors of NASA
."
From the startlingly simple process of merely reinstating the original Viking surface color data (now available at certain official NASA websites), so the flag appears as "normal" (!) (like in this version, produced by Barry Arneson in 2001 below), one gets the distinct impression that "certain individuals" in NASA three decades ago for some arcane reason, didnt feel Americans were "ready" then
to see the real "Red Planet."

Everyone knows the surface of Mars is too hot to support life! And that’s why the monsters all live underground.

That is real. Back when the first picture of the surface of mars were about to come in, the NASA techs color tuned the high end monitors in the room with all the press watching. When the color images came through, the sky was blue and the ground was covered in green patches. The person in charge of the project rushed up to the monitors and cranked the red component to max to show the ‘real’ color. Another case of facts not fitting the consensus view.

Image on right (with the blue sky) was on monitors color calibrated minutes earlier. Image on left is the consensus view of what the color SHOULD be.

If Fox News puts up a story denying the existence of life on Mars, according to liberals the claims must be true. If Trump tweeted that there was no life on Mars it would be an impeachable offense.

I would not be surprised if CNN is prepping a story about Trump’s collusion with Martian space insects.
