The way I see it, President Trump is trying to empower the people who have been out of the work force. Millions have been able to get off welfare & food stamps. With opportunity zones, job training, factory opening & expansions the 1st steps up the ladder become possible for people who have been disenfranchised.
Couple that with welfare tied to performing work and we have the classic carrot & stick. You are 100% right about how things have been. However POTUS is trying to lift people up and get them involved in the workforce so they can achieve success and control their destiny.
The Left has a foot on their backs and is pressing them into the mud.
