George McGovern would be a moderate in today's Democrat party. I remember reading about he and his wife running a bed and breakfast in Connecticut after he was defeated for re-election in 1980.

Somehow, these old fools never want to get very far from DC when their politicking days are done. But McGovern was actually decrying all the government regulations and taxes which made turning a profit on a B&B extremely difficult. So maybe he actually learned something late in life.

Agreed. Today’s Democrat Party would turn on McGovern and reject him for being too conservative. Among other things he served his country honorably in wartime. Can’t have THAT now, can we?

If you take all of the U.S. Presidents who have served and arrange them by political ideology, the President that Trump’s profile comes closest to matching was JFK.

Yet the same party who celebrates JFK is trying to impeach Trump.

Hate him or hate him, but Obama said this past weekend in a frank statement the Democrats need to tone down the far left rhetoric. They are completely unhinged and like an addled rich housewife with her husbands platinum card in Nordstroms buying everything, the Democrats are asking for all the goodies, right up front. I would venture to guess even with their sales pitch at least 60% of Americans don't want what they are selling.

They are drinking the Kool-Aid, a few late electoral wins in Virginia and them believing their own propaganda about impeachment has them giddy in anticipation about 2021 and a chance to make this country a combination Sweden\England and a little communist China thrown in.

This really is Trump's election to lose, they are bating him to react. He needs to keep it up and go on the offensive. When he has one Democrat target to go after Warren\Sanders\Buttigeig\Clinton\Bloomberg it's going to be epic. I do think a 1972 or 1984 style blowout is not possible, too much institutional voter fraud and demographic changes in 30+ years. But we can hit 300+ EVs. What I will put solid money down on is we flip the House and keep the Senate. I predict they pass impeachment over the holidays, Turtle in a few weeks votes on it and that is that. Then the campaign ads paid for big tech, big green and big Evil(Soros). I am sure Trump has kept his powder dry with his own series of frog marches, indictments and humiliations coming for the treasonous slime.

the government handing individuals and families a “basic” income per month regardless of employment or income status

UBI Universal Basic Income of $120,000 per year paid to workers.

Tax Washington DC and public school Bond Funds to pay for it.

Elizabeth “I will say anything to advance my career” Warren.

If no one had called her out on her claims of native American heritage, and she discovered the truth herself (e.g. the genetic testing), do you think she’d tell us?

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) signaled that she is open to a universal basic income – an idea that has been championed by fellow presidential contender Andrew Yang (D).

How generous! She must have quite a stash.

“At the core of Warren’s plans for America is the end of the Electoral College. She wants to replace it with a national popular vote.”

I’m not sure her theory is giving anything away here. It’s not letting it get to the consumer.

But the bottom line from this is that the effort to get socialism forwarded is with this concept. If everyone is limited to the determined amount of money (wealth) by class, it will destroy the one major thing that has made this country the financially strongest on earth in history.....an open market. It will create classes not based upon success but failure, and will make the lower classes far more dependent on help from the only controlling factor, the government. And this has failed everywhere they have tried it. But, of course, listening to Sanders, Warren, and most of the liberal/socialist contenders, “We’ll do it right this time.” When did they get so smart to out think everyone in history? Can’t be done. So it’s either a lie, or they’re stupid and/or think we are. And they may be right on that last part with the dem voters.

And of course this will be provided, or eventually expanded to illegal immigrants. So we’d just hand over all our wealth, and the faster the better.

Penalize workers while rewarding non-workers and you’ll get less work.

You honestly believe that? In the face of all evidence that disproves it? Wow.

NO Republican has won a victory like that since 1984, the last hurrah of the Baby Boomer voters totally dominating the electorate. Every election since has grown tighter and tighter. Since the early 1990’s when Gen X came of age and began voting, Democrats have won 4 elections and controlled the presidency for 16 years while Republicans have won 3 elections and controlled the presidency for 12 years. The Republican candidates have seen their popular votes dwindle to the point they have to depend upon the electoral college to win, which is also dwindling.

No Republican will ever win at those levels again with the current electorate’s increasing leftism and diversity. Warren could very well win (as could any Democrat). We’ll be lucky to squeak through the electoral college a time or two more. Then the country will demand, and get, the electoral college eliminated.
