I don’t believe that this is about congress. I think it is about the NY AG. Same difference as far as your explanation goes though.

His tax returns are prepared by some of the best accountants in the world. He has said himself they are great returns.

What they disclose is his network of businesses and business affiliates.

If his enemies can get their hands on the names and companies that make up his business empire, they can harass his network to no end just as they did with his campaign managers and partners.

That’s what they are after.

Temporarily ?!!!! What the heck is that tomfoolery crap?!!!

It’s standard practice to issue a temporary injunction pending oral arguments when the judge, or the justices in this case, think that the party will win the case and so the issue a temporary injunction pending a permanent injunction in advance of their ruling so the damage by not immediately overturning the lower court’s ruling can be avoided. They are essentially signaling that most likely they will be overturning the lower court, but have not yet, but in the meantime, hold your horses until we hear the case.

President Trump, in their minds, is clearly guilty. They just haven’t found the crime YET.

As Stalin's head of the secret police, Mr. Beria, famously said: Show me the man and I'll find the crime.

They are trying to turn the $130,000 he paid to Stormy Daniels into an illegal campaign contribution. etc.

They are looking to see if Trump deducted it as a campaign or a business expense. Either would be improper as the payment is a personal expense. I am certain that his accountants made sure it does not show up in either category.

RE: I had a lib explain to me that they want to see his taxes to prove whether he’s had income from foreign governments that would prove he’s a compromised

What’s the big deal? Trump’s businesses are all over the world. Heck he has them in of all places, Istanbul, India, Canada, South Korea, the Philippines, and South America.

They were there LONG before Trump declared his candidacy for President. If they had any anomalies, the IRS should have flagged it by now.

Does anyone believe Congressman Hank Johnson (Guam might tip over if too many marines are stationed there) would be able to read and understand businessman Trump’s complected corporate and personal tax returns. For that matter, most every Democrat in Congress or the Senate lacks the intelligence to do simple math.

Maybe it is congress according the the headline, but why do I remember it being the NY AG?

They don’t intend to prove anything. They intend to take perfectly legal tax maneuvers and deductions and spin them into “impeachable “ offenses. And yes,you are correct, if there is anything wrong with Trump’s tax returns, it is between him, and the IRS. Since I am sure Obama’s weaponized IRS scrutinized Trump’s tax returns to detail already, it can be safely deducted that the democrats only want them for nefarious purposes...

OK, can someone please explain to me this obsession with Trump’s tax returns?

Lawyers like to throw shit on the wall when they have nothing else. It distracts and wastes everyone’s time. So this it the Libs’ plan, mess up the country for everyone until they get back into power.

“Trump has been audited up one side and down the other, and there’s nothing to ‘find.’ This is just harassment. They obviously plan to come at him from every side, like the pack of wild dogs they are.”

The extremely Democratic State of New York has undoubtedly gone through Trump’s tax returns and found them accurate.

The high level Democrats just want to provide a Democratic underling the opportunity to leak them to the press.

Trump probably gets a base income of around $30 million/year, which may go to several hundred million/year if he sells the properties in his empire, which he’ll probably do if he wins reelection.

I never said Trump was hiding anything. But right now he has a choice between releasing his tax returns and getting the Left to shut up forever about them or dragging his feet while they convince the fence sitters that he’s behaving in a suspicious manner.

I’ll take pragmatism over principle any day of the week.

For a political party that is so sensitive about others interfering with elections, the Democrats are not the least embarrassed to enlist the federal government to interfere. I guess that’s because they have essentially turned the federal bureaucracy into a branch of the DNC.

The stay was granted by John Roberts; this is not unusual; what happens now is that the request for a writ of certiorari and a further stay is being circulated to the other members of the court; they presumably will rule on whether the Supreme Court will hear the appeal within 10 days.

What do they intend to prove anyway?

If there were any anomalies or violations of the tax codes, isn’t it the job of the IRS to flag this?

And if the IRS discovered anything wrong, isn’t it the business of the Trump organization to settle this with the IRS and nobody else’s?

Other than they can hold a fishing expedition, nothing. The Dems simply want any info they can use to smear Trump either by charging him with improper business dealings, cheating on his taxes or possibly just being a bad business man (therefore an economic risk to have as president).
