It's not unusual for the French to comment on anything American and normally in the negative. What is rare is a Frenchman saying something positive about Americans; in this case heaping praise on our soldiers in Afghanistan.

Everyone considers it cool to slam the French for military stuff, but in fact they’re not the cowardly ones these days FOR SURE.

De ghrrrrain ib Espaigne fulls bainly on ze plein.
But when they do not like American soldats, They play their accordians ( intelligence breaches). Thats the problem.Right now they play the violins because they want something. You have to understand “les mots du France,” to not be taken in by
“le grand poseur,” which is a French military institution.

Great. I hope it inspires the French soldiers to be better.

I was biking in France with some expat friends. We stopped in a small town as my friend was looking for an iPhone plug, or something like that. While he searched shops in the small Main Street, I sat in the town square in the shade.
There was a cenotaph with about 125 names on it commemorating the town’s boys who died in WWI - but not the entire war, merely in ONE battle, Verdun.
I assume it killed all the men in that town from one generation. After that, the town literally had no one left to send to war.

My late grandfather spilled his guts all over Flanders for these cheese eating surrender monkeys. I had two uncles who had to come back and do it again in The Ardennes in Dec/Jan/ 0f 1944-45.

Earlier ‘French cowardice’ is mostly a product of British propaganda.

In a video not too long ago Tommy Robinson was talking about the abysmal conditions of the british soldiers. They told him that when they got embedded with the US guys they couldn’t believe the food and living conditions. We take care of our guys and make sure they have what they need to go along with the hooyah and ability.

I saw more American flags in Normandy than I see in most parts of the US.
Normandy isn’t Paris.

"Heavily built, fed at the earliest age with Gatorade, proteins, and creatine they are all heads and shoulders taller than us and their muscles remind us of Rambo. Our frames are amusingly skinny to them we are wimps, even the strongest of us"
Read enough history to know this is a common theme when Americans encounter European troops. In WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam and now in the Great Sandbox. We ARE better fed, trained and motivated. Too bad our leaders often fail our great troopers!

If not for the courage of the French fighting man, the Brits would have died on the beaches of Dunkirk.

Normandy isnt Paris.
I’ve read that it is a major faux pas to ask a Frenchman what part of Paris he is from. They are proud not to be from Paris.

Imagine one of these in every town, and every city in France. They lost generations of their finest in WW1.
I tell my kids to think back on all the boys in all your classes in elementary school and imagine about six out of every ten perishing in war.

I read a description of the battle of Verdun that was written by a famous author. I can't remember which one. The description was so graphic it gave me a good understanding of the brutality of that battle. One of the things that stuck with me was the blood in their hands from the dysentery. They had to shit in their hands because they couldn't leave the trench. Bodies of soldiers with their pants down were all over the ground outside the trench . They were shot and killed while trying to take a shit.

“Normandy isnt Paris.”
You hit the nail on the head!! Cities all over the world are like cities in the US. They are cesspools of humanity. They are cancerous to everything good, orderly and proper.

I’m reminded of the complaints Brit military had against Americans based there and scoring the Brit ladies, etc. The Brit complaint said the problem with American GIs was: “They’re overpaid, oversexed and OVER HERE!”
