The contest is also an increasingly close one. Incumbent Gov. John Bel Edwards faces a serious challenge from Republican businessman Eddie Rispone, whos attempted to tie himself tightly with Trump during the campaign. In the week ahead of the election, polling had the two candidates nearly tied, and Cook Political Report has classified the race as a toss-up.

LOL....with the LSU-Ole Miss game starting at 6PM, nobody is going to pay much attention to election results until MAYBE late tonight.
Polls close at 8 PM central time in Louisiana.
Won’t know anything until then at the earliest.
Betting sites may be Vegas?
If Edwards wins it will probably be because women have been told non stop since yesterday afternoon how mean Trump was to the poor woman Ambassador who was just trying to do her best. Even though she lied repeatedly and the PM of Ukraine wanted her out.
Edwards has been polling ahead of Rispone.
“one thing to keep an eye on as county results come in,...”
Louisiana does not have counties; it has parishes.
When I lived in Jefferson Parish it was pretty conservative. But I’ve been gone for almost thirty years, so I have no idea how it is now.
Betting odds:
65% Eddie Rispone
35% John Bel Edwards

Bettors think Rispone will win due to the GOP vote which is around 55-60% of the electorate.
Trump won LA in 2016 with 58%.
Thanks, I pouldn’t make sense of anything I found!
Ready - Aim - Vote (triggering (pun intended) the totalitarians)
Remember "Vote for the crook!"
Bel Edwards got 46% in the open primary. The two major Republicans in that primary got about 51% combined. So if every GOP voter from the primary would support Riscone, this election will go to the GOP. We’ll see.
Then we will look at parish by parish results. Parishes are very similar governmental units to counties in other states. I’m sure there are strong Democrat parishes, and then again, parishes which normally trend GOP. There may be bellwether parishes to watch.
Trumps popularity is a huge asset to the GOP. They wished they could have had him again on election eve.
Seems the big problem in Louisiana is the cost of auto insurance. That alone should be the motivating factor to get that guy outta there and vote for Rispone.
Not to mention jobs and everything else sucks.
Trump mentioned all that in the Bossier City rally Thursday and said voters can also send Washington Democrats a message.
Bump
Polls close in another 40 minutes.
