The contest is also an increasingly close one. Incumbent Gov. John Bel Edwards faces a serious challenge from Republican businessman Eddie Rispone, whos attempted to tie himself tightly with Trump during the campaign. In the week ahead of the election, polling had the two candidates nearly tied, and Cook Political Report has classified the race as a toss-up.

Only big Rat city in the state. The difference from ten years ago is most whites have become Republican like in the rest of the South.
Except for Baton Rouge, Shreveport and Jefferson Parish which has more people than Orleans Parish and voted for Bel Edwards in the Primary.
The biggest fish can be caught at the bait dock
Risponse isnt weighed down by personal baggage that doomed Matt Bevin.
GOP has a strong statewide slate.
Risponse isnt weighed down by personal baggage that doomed Matt Bevin.
Louisiana has an extremely high tolerance for candidates baggage.
Except for Vitter but that was before Hollywood Access and Stormy Daniels.
We won N.C. 9
ILLary got 90% of the vote in DC in '16. I rest my case.
When do we expect the dead contingent to vote?
The only poll that counts is the number of votes counted on election day. Incumbent Dem Edwards got less than 47% of votes in the primary. He will probably fail to win the runoff today.
After the last primary election for US Senate in LA, the well-known and long term incumbent Dem Landrieu was forced into a runoff by failing to get more than 50% of the votes. Cassidy (R) easily beat her in the runoff, even though the polls and news media falsely claimed the race was neck and neck. Anybody looking at the primary vote count could see she was doomed.
The same thing will probably happen in the LA governor race.
BTW, reports are that no sitting LA governor has ever won reelection after being forced into a runoff.
Twitter pollsters don’t seem to be paying much attention.
Hope that means they expect the Rs to win.
Watch the Acadia parishes. They tend to vote for candidates not by party, but who is the most Cajun.
Good observation, thanks!
# elections in a row? Really ?
I’m aware of Va and we lost in Kentucky but that one doesn’t bother me because Rep won all the down ticket races (11 of them) and did so by double digits. Bevin was a horrible candidate and had a 33% approval in his own State.
I fully expect that Governorship to come back home in 4 yrs.
I don’t even remember the third one you mention.
After the living voters are counted? because then they know how many dead people need to be awakened.
True...
We have? Are you looking at the same election results I’m looking at?
Cute tweet from Eddie:

He seems like a competent campaigner, Trump WILL be judged on the results.
