Former President Jimmy Carter enters hospital for surgery
Omaha World Herald ^ | 12 November 2019 | Jay Reeves and Shameka Dudley-Lowe

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter was admitted to a hospital on Monday evening for a surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, caused by bleeding due to his recent falls, his spokeswoman said.

The procedure is scheduled for Tuesday morning at Emory University Hospital, Deanna Congileo said in a statement. Carter has fallen at least three times this year, and the first incident in the spring required hip replacement surgery. He traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, and helped build a Habitat for Humanity home after getting 14 stiches following a fall on Oct. 6. And he was briefly hospitalized after fracturing his pelvis on Oct. 21. He received a dire cancer diagnosis in 2015 but survived and has since said he is cancer-free.

Nearly four decades after he left office and despite a body that's failing after 95 years, the nation's oldest-ever ex-president still teaches Sunday school roughly twice a month at Maranatha Baptist Church in his tiny hometown of Plains in southwest Georgia. His message is unfailingly about Jesus, not himself.

Rev. Tony Lowden, Carter's pastor, said the ex-president was hospitalized Monday on what he called "a rough day."

If Carter kicks the bucket it would distract from the impeachment fraud. Bummer.

He also recently had hip surgery. Others would be denied that at 95.

For someone so recently’cured’of brain cancer, he’s certainly having a lot of problems with his brain.

Amazing medical care they get, the best.

Lizzie wouldn’t change the policy of premium care for the top of the governing class.

Big government, elected official worship, it's backwards.

They get the type of healthcare you and I will never receive because we have a two-tiered system for the rulers and the ruled.

Re elected worship, backwards considerations:

It has been said, “Under capitalism, the rich become powerful.”

Which, sounds bad until you hear the counter, “Under communism, the powerful become rich.”

Which is more operative now? It seems to me we are in transition. Hillary, Obama, Biden... money is flowing to top government officials. Top Democrat candidates are shameless in their proposals to confiscate wealth.

One of the local hospitals has a group that are world-wide experts at brain microsurgery for treating stroke. Those skills might well transfer to what Carter needs, and I’m fairly sure the medical people involved know of this group.

Got that right. Were he alive today McGovern would likely be regarded as too conservative by most Dem voters.

Never cared for him as POTUS but pray that Mr. Carter will be well.

As one who worked for decades at a hospital that routinely treats Kings,Presidents and Prime Ministers I can guarantee that Mr Carter will have the *very* best physicians and surgeons caring for him.
