Attorney Alan Dershowitz warned that Americans should be “frightened” of the House’s impeachment investigation, accusing Democrats of trying to “create crimes out of nothing.”
“Whether you’re from New York or the middle of the country, you should be frightened by efforts to try to create crimes out of nothing,” Dershowitz said Sunday on John Catsimatidis’ radio show.
“Well, I spent the afternoon yesterday searching the federal criminal statutes from beginning to end. I couldn’t find the crime.”
The House’s impeachment inquiry was launched in September amid Democratic concerns that Trump leveraged $400 million in military aid to pressure Zelensky to publicly open an investigation on unfounded corruption allegations against former Vice President Joe Biden, a top political rival.
The White House has repeatedly blasted the House investigation as a "witch hunt" and decrying Democrats' efforts as "unhinged" last week after they voted to formalize the inquiry.
“First they made up collusion… I searched the statute books. There’s no crime of collusion… with a foreign country. After that ,they said obstruction of Congress,” Dershowitz said.
“In a desperate effort to try to find crimes [committed by] President Trump, they’re just making it up. And that means we are all in danger.”

And he is a lifelong hard nose Democrat. I think many of the old time Democrats are aghast at what the Democrat Party has become.

He’s one of the few libs who understands and reveres the Constitution. I have to hand it to him. He’s lost most of his friends and colleagues because he supports the Constitution over the current coup d’etat. Most people on the left aren’t that principled.

YUP! With the nuclear, hair-trigger Trump topic, The Dersh had to have KNOWN 100% that peeping out a single word of Trump support would nuke his whole social circle.
It either took guts or knowledge it was just a matter of time until he was undone by some other Very Powerful Force. Or maybe a combo of those two.
But I like to think it's the first only.

The Democrats in the House caucus never had access to that keen intellect. They know there must be a crime, but be darned if they can identify it. Even their highly inventive definitions of a “crime” fall way short.

If you have a source for that quote, I'd like to see it. For ages, Dersh has openly identified himself as a "liberal Democrat" with libertarian leanings. He doesn't hide it.
In this election cycle, he has been an ardent Trump supporter and a staunch advocate for most key conservative principles, with few exceptions. Actually, he (with his keen legal mind) has been one of most effective guys on our side, with his acumen continually and rationally framing defenses for our beleaguered President.
However, I always hold my breath when it comes to some of the big-name TV political personalities....some can (and have) turned on a dime (like the Mooch and others) much to our dismay and chagrin.
But I DO have faith, however, in Dersh staying the course....and I don't believe for a New York minute that he will vote for ANY of the Demoncrat clown-troupe candidates come election day...as the above alleged quote states.

many of us don’t like some of Alan’s politics BUT I want to thank and compliment him again for being as honest as he is about this “impeachment” krap
he has been quite straight-forward and also willing to speak out...
(he’s mentioned that it cost him many of his friends in the left wing camp, which has been where he has spent most of his time......... I would say that if being honest loses me any friends, those kind of friends were never worth having as friends anyway
it is better to have less friends, than to have dishonest, crooked, corrupt, or otherwise immoral friends

i hope and trust Mr. Derschavitz understands, realizes he’s lost nothing of any real value by being honest

Men like Dershowitz are increasingly rare. He calls it like he see’s it. We may not appreciate his politics, but his politics don’t color his sense of right & wrong on the moral questions.
How can they do that? If the crimes were committed by the FedGov prior to President Trump taking office, how can they obscure the timeline to make it look like they were committed by Trump?
We don’t even need imaginations to comprehend what these people will do to us, if they succeed here.
I’ve mentioned on other threads that I keep having dreams of the footage I saw of the Brown Shirts running people down and smashing windows. We’re almost there.
So, now we have one honest Democrat
