Alexander Vindman s testimony in the House impeachment proceeding has stirred controversy among military members and veterans, some who view the Army lieutenant colonel as a patriot who is being unfairly targeted and others who think he is politicizing the military.
Vindman, the National Security Councils top Ukraine expert, was thrust into the political spotlight when he testified before Congress on Oct. 29 as one of the few people who listened in on a July phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
His appearance in uniform has been a point of contention for some. Military members detailed to the NSC typically wear suits, though Vindman gave his testimony in uniform.
This is a bad look for him to be in uniform," an active duty military officer stationed at the Pentagon told the Washington Examiner. "He makes it look like the Army is behind this. Like the Army is pushing a coup."
Another officer was concerned that Vindmans testimony veered too much into personal assessment.
I don't care what he thinks, he's entitled to his opinion," the officer said. "But it's an opinion and he should give it without the uniform."

I don’t think it’s the uniform, so much as it is the guy wearing it.
;-)
He doesn’t look like he could fight his way out of a wet paper bag. I hope the military doesn’t have a lot of men like this clown in its ranks. He wore the uniform because he looks like a clown without it. He even looks like one in uniform but it serves as a distraction.
The Army Green uniform is no longer worn. The Army blue uniform is now the Class A uniform.
Very definitely not! We're going to have to assume that portions of the military are in on the coup against the President. Of course the pudgy Pentagon faction, those who love desk duty, are in on it. The ones who are in shape because they serve our country at the pointy end of the spear are overwhelmingly pro-Trump.
I took that oath more seriously than any other aspect of my decision to go Navy. I read it as a sacred oath with no expiration date, even back then, and my perspective has not changed.
Trust me. This guy is NO Ollie North.
And just how many people were listening in on President Trump's phone call to the Ukrainian president?
Who was actually listening in and who is making up or relaying hearsay information in their testimony?
Seems too convenient that SchifftyEyes has all of these witnesses lined up who actually have real information versus something they overheard at the hallway water cooler or read in the NYSlimes about the call?
It's all fabricated like the Kavanaugh confirmation hearing was. The witnesses are phony and their testimony is fiction.
This is right out of the democRAT playbook.
So this guy listened in. Afterward he had an opinion, not an accusation, and he went skittering over to shif’s office to report it.
“We’re going to have to assume from now on that the military is in on the coup against the President.”
A pentagon LtCol strutting like a peacock in a dress uniform does not translate into a coup. His entire command is likely composed of two weenie pencil-pusher lieutenants and a female E-5 coffee gopher. And the LtCol likely answers to a boot general who was awarded a bronze star for keeping the liquor cabinet stocked with French cognac.
Thanks!....I didn't know that....and I agree with everything you said....
(If I ever get subpoenaed would it be ostentatious of me to wear my rare 1968 Army issued 2 piece “Nomex” flight suit with a bullet hole in it?..../s)
the testimony divides the military........
no, of course not
The testimony exposes a preexisting rift.
Some prefer fighting.
Others prefer lawyers preventing fighting.
NATO and the Euro fear of fighting and killing must be divorced
If the REMF wants to parade around in uniform, he can do it at Leavenworth as an E-1 Dishonorable discharge.
The army did away with the green class A uniform about eight years ago... The class A now is about the equivalent of the service dress blues, which are being phased out in favor of the new “old” pinks and greens...
Times have changed.
Seems to be the SMAs have too little to do other than make troops but new uniforms....
Vindeman indeed looked pudgy. Not the infantry officer I would pick to work in the NSC. Wonder who vetted him, being almost a Ukrainian himself....
What was up with the blue and yellow hat band?
If you can wear your 1968 Nomex now, more power to ya. I threw away my Vietnam Nomex in 1973 because I could read a newspaper through it. Wouldn’t fit if I still had it.
Stumbled upon a stash of old Nomex once but it was all in Munchkin sizes.
Years after RVN, finally got issued the cool USAF one piece Nomex. I was still skinny then. Those days belong to another time.
Blue on the cap & shoulder boards means Infantry branch. The gold means officer.
Would like to read Vindman’s Purple Heart citation. Met a few liberals in uniform in my Army days. They were jerks.
Not too many years ago this type of behavior would have ended with that military member being ejected from the service.
With all of the perfumed princes residing in the Pentagon today, most of whom were promoted by getting on their knees and fellating Obama, there will be no repercussions.
Back during the Clinton Administration I was still Active Duty and getting ready to retire. The Services were changing their weight standards and I started seeing disgusting porkers in uniform. It was truly vomit inducing.
I now see photos of day to day military personnel who disgrace the uniform yet are commonplace in today's military.
My dad swore me in as an O-6 USN in the summer of ‘67. Yes, I too took it very seriously and still honor it today. A blank check signed by me and by you to the USA. Thanks for your service.
I hope my service is done. If not, then I am ready to do my duty. I followed in my father's and grandfather's footsteps, passed that tradition on to multiple children, and expect to see grandchildren in uniform some day.
