Its now official. Former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Alabama, a seat he once occupied prior to going to serve in President Donald Trumps administration in 2017.
Earlier in the evening, Sessions campaign website went live, and he published his first campaign video, which was featured in his announcement on Fox News Channels Tucker Carlson Tonight.
During that appearance, Sessions addressed his desire to run and his falling out with Trump. Sessions told Carlson that he hoped to have an opportunity to discuss his campaign with Trump.

However, there are a very many people on FreeRepublic that are either clueless or, are subversive Sessions / Romney / Ryan / Sasse, / Burr, etc...GOP-E supporter.
The number of Freepers who are total fools are truly astonishing.
This Cuck, weak, pathetic fool who stabbed president Trump in the back by Recusing himself in the face of the democrat coup claims to have our presidents back? Really?
If you believe this line of BS you are the modern day equivalent of the useful idiots of the old school Communist Party acolytes.
Sessions bailed on President Trump. And, didnt even give him the courtesy of advance warning. He accepted the position of AG then bailed.
So many press conferences where he stood BEHIND Rosenstein like Rosenteins BITCH.
And you people support this pathetic excuse for a man?
Ryan/Bush acolytes actively working to subvert our president while “Claiming to be Conservative”.
Or, as the loser Romney claimed, “I am an Extreme Conservative.”
This is the GOP-E equivalent of Kerry’s, “Is this where I get me a hunting license.”
You are why people hate and loathe conservatives, because you are a f*g idiot.
The ‘clown car’ has been full for decades in Alabama. Look at the last five governors. Shelby and Sessions are both democrats in republican-clothing.
The chief problem is that you need talk-radio support in the state, and that involves cash. Then you need the Baptist-vote.
I expect Moore to poll around 20-percent of the republican vote, with Sessions and Tubby splitting 60 percent. Neither will have a majority, and it’s mostly a race between Tubby and Sessions in a run-off. If Trump sides with Tubby and makes at least two campaign stops in the primary period...it’s Tubby in the end against Jones.
Just explain the Obama man, John Huber in any way they isnt shielding the Guilty, and well listen.
Thank you Lucy. Initially I supported him until I learned by observing his actions what a back stabbing judas he was.
Or, as the loser Romney claimed, I am an Extreme Conservative.
It was worse than that....he said he was a SEVERE Conservative... and he said it as if he was SEVERELY CONSTIPATED.
Sessions is worse than Romney...Sessions will stab Trump in the back while talking about how much he supports Trump.
He didn’t take anything personally. Good on him.
He needs to live hell on earth , then rot in hell.
Trust Sessions ! Put me in coach, Im ready to play, lol FFS.
Back where he should have stayed.
Sessions really helped the Trump agenda by being bullied into dropping Trump into 2+ years of phoney charges about Russia?
I know what you mean. He WAS a good senator in the past. He gave NO inkling of what he would do when Trump appointed him. I was disgusted by him after that. Who knows what he will do if he returns to the senate. I hope he loses to be honest.
DURBIN: ... What if, hypothetical, same as Hillary Clinton, we are dealing with an investigation that involves the Trump campaign or anyone in the Trump campaign, would you recuse yourself as attorney general from that prosecution? They also tried to get him to recuse himself, as a Senator, from voting for himself or any other cabinet members. They tried to get him to promise an Independent Counsel to investigate the Trump/Deutsche Bank, which he also declined.
SESSIONS: My response to the -- my recusal issue was because I'd made public comments about it that could be construed as having an opinion on the final judgment that would have to be rendered. I don't think I made any comments on this issue that go to that, but I would review it and try to do the right thing as to whether or not it should stay within the jurisdiction of the attorney general or not.
It was only after the left used his "meetings" with Russian Ambassador Kislyak to accuse him of perjury during his confirmation hearings that he announced his recusal. I think some people are confusing his recusal from all things Clinton with his recusal from the Russia investigation.
I'm not a fan of Sessions because I think he caved to pressure rather than fight for his President, his party and his country. He was weak when we needed strength, and that weakness has done considerable damage to our nation. But I'm not a resident of Alabama, so I leave it to Alabamans and Trump to make this decision. If Trump publicly supports Sessions, I think he wins. But that is a huge 'if'. I just hope we don't screw this up and reelect Jones.
Jeff is ready for his close up, Mr. DeMille
Art of Deception, Art of the Deal ...
Yep. 'They' need him in the Senate to help Mitt.
So you're telling me that in the entire state of Alabama there's not a single competent Conservative who is capable of running for the Senate? (and who is preferably younger than 50)
This in my world anyway was the big political news yesterday. This shuts down any Drama in that race and ensures Doug Jones is sent packing.
GOP +1 in the senate.
Yea Just like Mitt said too and look at him now!
