It’s now official. Former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Alabama, a seat he once occupied prior to going to serve in President Donald Trump’s administration in 2017.
Earlier in the evening, Sessions’ campaign website went live, and he published his first campaign video, which was featured in his announcement on Fox News Channel’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
During that appearance, Sessions addressed his desire to run and his falling out with Trump. Sessions told Carlson that he hoped to have an opportunity to discuss his campaign with Trump.

Sessions bailed on President Trump. And, didn’t even give him the courtesy of advance warning. He accepted the position of AG then bailed.

The ‘clown car’ has been full for decades in Alabama. Look at the last five governors. Shelby and Sessions are both democrats in republican-clothing.
The chief problem is that you need talk-radio support in the state, and that involves cash. Then you need the Baptist-vote.
I expect Moore to poll around 20-percent of the republican vote, with Sessions and Tubby splitting 60 percent. Neither will have a majority, and it’s mostly a race between Tubby and Sessions in a run-off. If Trump sides with Tubby and makes at least two campaign stops in the primary period...it’s Tubby in the end against Jones.

I know what you mean. He WAS a good senator in the past. He gave NO inkling of what he would do when Trump appointed him. I was disgusted by him after that. Who knows what he will do if he returns to the senate. I hope he loses to be honest.

It was only after the left used his "meetings" with Russian Ambassador Kislyak to accuse him of perjury during his confirmation hearings that he announced his recusal. I think some people are confusing his recusal from all things Clinton with his recusal from the Russia investigation.
I'm not a fan of Sessions because I think he caved to pressure rather than fight for his President, his party and his country. He was weak when we needed strength, and that weakness has done considerable damage to our nation. But I'm not a resident of Alabama, so I leave it to Alabamans and Trump to make this decision. If Trump publicly supports Sessions, I think he wins. But that is a huge 'if'. I just hope we don't screw this up and reelect Jones.

This in my world anyway was the big political news yesterday. This shuts down any Drama in that race and ensures Doug Jones is sent packing.
