What happened to President Obamas majority?
The surface-level answer to this question is simple. Donald Trump won over a supermajority of white working-class voters while holding on to many traditional Republicans, allowing him to win the Electoral College. At the same time, down-ballot Republicans built on their solid showings in 2010 and 2014, which helped them retain control of Congress and significant power in the states.

The guy who said the KKK member was his mentor??
Apparently that’s the guy.
John Edwards got what he deserveda political execution.
Had it not been for the National Enquirer, the fake news media would have covered up Edwards sleazy adulterous ways.
Edwards is a slick lawyer, but he had a middle class American dream-type message that could have appealed to people.
Who else are the Democrats going to bring back? Hillary is finished. Michelle does not want to run. John Kerry is damaged goods.
Wesley Clark has no message other than being a general, it’s not 2004 anymore.
His daddy worked in a meel!
Yes, the same one who made millions as an ambulance-chasing, dead baby-channeling charlatan. A slimeball with Bill Clinton’s morals, better hair, and less charm. That someone thinks Edwards could have “saved” the Democrats is one heck of an indictment on the current crop.
Looks like the DEMS have gone through their ‘VARSITY’ players and are bringing out the JVs.
Wesley Clark is what Beto would have been as a military officer.
Mitt Romney. Never Trumpers like him, Swamp likes him. Can get Christian vote to break from Trump. Just like Biden but without dementia. Its Mitt, the biparision candidate.ERS,
AHA!
The greiving father who someone "I never told people this before" about his dead son, twice, to the same person? That John Edwards?
But it didnt. He went from VP candidate in 2004 to getting less than 3% support among Democratic delegates in the 2008 primaries.
If the Democrats were smart, they'd have rallied behind John Hickenlooper. Instead, they quickly tossed him to the curb.
President Trump has said it over and over again, "Even if you don't like me, you're still going to have to vote for me!" And he's right. This is how he wins again; as he did in 2016, by earning the votes of the people who love him and those voters who can't stand the Democratic Party candidate.
The Democrats chased out all the moderate white men in the party.
Evan Bayh, Edwards, Clark, Phil Bredesen are too moderate for Democrats.
The leftwing base has been accelerated.
They are left with two old white men, a old white lady and a young gay man, and a black woman from San Francisco.
That is what the Democrats have.
No.
You must mean the psychic.
Seriously, the Clintons ruined American politics, starting with Slick back in 92.
“Could Someone Like John Edwards Have Saved the Democrats?”
Biden should impregnate a campaign worker?
Evan Bayh is as swampish as they come. Good on the IN voters for keeping him out of the Senate.
If the Dems need someone like Edwards to save them they are doomed forever
“The guy who cheated on his wife while she was battling cancer???”
AND the woman he cheated with was a nutjob that had a love child with him and then broke up with him ...
SOOOOO, the author thinks a guy like that could have saved the Democrats: the insanity is strong in that one ...
Then Al Gore or Dick Gephardt should have ran on their own in ‘92. Lad Lee Atwater lived in ‘92, Clinton would have probably never gotten far in the nomination.

Gore was actually more ethical than Bubba.
Speaking of Gore, I wonder if Gore will think of running in 2020.
A Gore-Gabbard ticket would be a tough ticket in my opinion.
