BREAKING: Barr-Durham Investigation Is Now Officially A Criminal Investigation

New York Times

WASHINGTON — For more than two years, President Trump has repeatedly attacked the Russia investigation, portraying it as a hoax and illegal even months after the special counsel closed it. Now, Mr. Trump’s own Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into how it all began.

Justice Department officials have shifted an administrative review of the Russia investigation closely overseen by Attorney General William P. Barr to a criminal inquiry, according to two people familiar with the matter. The move gives the prosecutor running it, John H. Durham, the power to subpoena for witness testimony and documents, to impanel a grand jury and to file criminal charges.

The move also creates an unusual situation in which the Justice Department is conducting a criminal investigation into itself.

Mr. Barr’s reliance on Mr. Durham, a widely respected and veteran prosecutor who has investigated C.I.A. torture and broken up Mafia rings, could help insulate the attorney general from accusations that he is doing the president’s bidding and putting politics above justice.

It was not clear what potential crime Mr. Durham is investigating, nor when the criminal investigation was prompted. A Justice Department spokeswoman declined to comment.

I would think it became criminal investigation a long time ago and we are just now being told about it. As for the Crimes, let's start with:

Seditious Conspiracy to Overthrow the United States Government

What I am hearing about durham is all positive.

He is tough and does not have a political bone in his body.

He will seek justice and that is what We the People want.

I am tired of seeing the "rich and famous" getting a free pass. Time to prosecute and convict

That is a very nice news compilation site to replace Drudge. They obviously look like they have hijacked the GUI and I’m OK with that sine the aforementioned site has been banned from my desktop.

Thanks for posting!

Unlike many on this forum I have a great deal of confidence in both Barr and Durham.

Barr is a by the book law and order hard a$$ and has been from the beginning. He’s methodical (some might call slow) persistent and relentless. He been around long enough to know the deep state, how it operates, even how to manipulate it to his advantage without being a part of it.

He also has absolutely no need for the AG job and can therefor function with no fear of losing it because he’s stepped on certain toes. Kinda like Trump.

Durham is a tough as nails prosecutor who appears fearless and will go where the evidence leads. One could have assumed that he was doing nothing since appointed because there have been no leaks from his office. You’d be dead wrong as he runs a tight ship and leaks from his sphere are not tolerated.

Even this story did not come from his crew but rather the attorneys of those likely criminally involved.

I hope the media doesn't see that as too much of a problem. I mean, granted, our side sees actual crimes that need to be investigated: treason, sedition, election tampering, perjury, etc.

But the Democrats have been investigating Trump for years with no actual crime in mind. They've just been fishing, and the media has seemed perfectly fine with that.

One point about Mueller. He didn’t do the investigation. The 17 angry democrats told him to sit in a corner and they would take care of it. They wrote the report.

That was very obvious when he was in front of Congress and couldn’t answer even simple questions about the report.

I agree, but moving to criminal is the FIRST tangible step we have seen. I’m encouraged...especially seeing the Flynn developments that are leading the way. Looks to me like it is (finally) starting.
