White House to tell 'all federal agencies' to end New York Times, Washington Post subscriptions

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has had it with The New York Times and The Washington Post. The White House is preparing to instruct federal agencies not to renew their subscriptions to the newspapers.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham is describing the move as a cost-saving measure.

Grisham says “not renewing subscriptions across all federal agencies will be a significant cost saving for taxpayers - hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

Trump is often critical of the two newspapers and said in a Fox News interview on Monday that “we don’t want” the Times in the White House anymore, and “we’re going to probably terminate that and The Washington Post.”

The White House plan was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

It’s unclear when the instructions will go to agencies.

Please Mr. Trump END CNN in airports. Let people use their smart devices, and put on Animal Planet or just classical music..no more news that has a spin.

I don’t know if this is such a good idea. Newspaper can be very useful. Lining bird cages and cat boxes. Starting fires. Cleaning glass and can be used to pack items in boxes for fired deep state operatives.

They're not cancelling the govt's WSJ subscriptions? I love the Journal, but does the government have to buy news for their employees? All my career I've had to buy my newspapers and online sources. Why not just stream Fox Business or CNBC or countless other reputable sources?

It’s ridiculous that taxpayer dollars were ever used for this.
How many cable and satellite TV packages are we providing to government offices?

I don’t think that this is a good idea. Reading enemy propaganda can be very useful to divine intent, focus, concerns, and inclinations.

It is akin to reading the Volkischer Beobachter during World War II or Pravda during the Cold War.

If for almost no other reason, you really really gotta love Trump!

He really knows how to throw grenades into the anti-American left wing news cycle!

He has them so wrapped into a gravity defying pretzel orbit...

I’m with you on that: the staff should be buying their own papers. The gov’t is NOT responsible for your coffee break/lunchtime reading material.

Noplace I have ever worked other than restaurants/bars ever bought the paper
