As Scott noted earlier, during a hearing before the House Intelligence Committee earlier today, committee chairman Adam Schiff purported to quote from the transcript of President Trump’s phone call with Ukraine’s President Zelensky. Per the Daily Caller, these are the words Schiff attributed to President Trump:
“This is the essence of what the president communicates. We’ve been very good to your country, very good, no other country has done as much as we have, but you know what, I don’t see much reciprocity here. I hear what you want. I have a favor I want from you, though. And I’m going to say this only seven times, so you better listen good.”
Schiff continued, making it up as he went along: “I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent, understand, lots of it, on this and on that. I’m going to put you in touch with people, not just any people, I’m going to put you in touch with the attorney general of the United States, my attorney general Bill Barr. He’s got the whole weight of the American law enforcement behind him.”
The House Intelligence Committee chairman even suggested that Trump told Zelensky, “‘And I’m going to put you in touch with Rudy — you’re going to love him, trust me. You know what I’m asking, and so I’m only going to say this a few more times in a few more ways. And by the way, don’t call me again, I’ll call you when you’ve done what you’ve asked.’ This is the sum and character what the president was trying to communicate with the president of Ukraine. It would be funny if it wasn’t such a graphic betrayal of the president’s Oath of Office.”
Schiff simply lied. Not a word of his tirade came from the transcript of the president’s conversation with Zelensky. Schiff made it all up, and it didn’t resemble the actual transcript in any respect.
Apart from the fact that it shows once again what a disgusting liar Adam Schiff is, why is his “parody” important? Because it shows the baselessness of the Democrats’ case against Trump. If Trump had actually said anything objectionable–let alone impeachable!–in his conversation with Zelensky, Schiff would have quoted it. But because the conversation was entirely innocent, Schiff couldn’t quote a line of it. He had to make schiff up, and that’s what he did.
Adam Schiff’s absurd tirade of lies demonstrates, as well as anything, that the Democrats’ Ukraine hysteria is just another hoax.
Well said, and obvious to anyone who will actually look at the facts.
Except for the public transcript of the call that Trump released, that was really nice sinister dialogue that Trump never said.
He wasn’t making it up as he went along. He was reading it. He presented it as if it were Trump’s words, only coming up with his “parody” schtick after the transcript was released. No way Schiff wins this.
What bothers me is he read while in session.
It’s part of history.
I want it erased.
He should be hung for treason.
Then get a fair trial.

consider the fact that Schiff very very very strongly alluded to ‘the Godfather’ and then recall this from a month ago, before Schiff’s little screentest, and you’ll see the path the Dems are trying to lead America down now. i.e., that Trump is the Mafia Godfather lololol How stereotypical can you get - NY, mafia, geesh.

Those who follow the Dem-Pravda Media already believe this is really what Trump said. I was at my son’s a few weeks ago. His wife likes The Today Show. Right after the actual transcript was released, there was Savannah Guthrie saying ‘the transcript has been released and you can read it for yourself’. She then proceeded to give her spin of the transcript, knowing that those listening wouldn’t bother ‘reading it for themselves’, but would accept Guthrie’s take at face value. That’s how the Leftist Media gets the people believing the worst.
The Media is disgusting, feckless and unconscionable.
A footnote, or link to rebuttals and retractions, would be better; and much easier, at this point (imagine how many related items you’d have to expunge as well).
I still haven’t found where the “parody” was stricken from the record.
The Republicans on the Committee should have stood up and walked out as soon as Shithead started telling his lies.
I would like this to reach the SC, and be found illegal in terms of impeachment procedings, evidence, by unanymous decision.
