McConnell introduces resolution opposing US withdrawal from Syria

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other top Republican senators introduced a resolution Tuesday in opposition to President Donald Trump's withdrawal from Syria, warning that his decision has benefited Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, ISIS, Russia and Iran. "If not arrested, withdrawing from Syria will invite more of the chaos that breeds terrorism and creates a vacuum our adversaries will certainly fill," McConnell said on the Senate floor. McConnell said if the President doesn't halt the withdrawal, Russia "will gain more leverage" in the Middle East, Iran-backed forces could gain greater access to a "strategic corridor that runs all the way from Tehran to the very doorstep of Israel" and the Assad regime will be invited to "reassert its oppressive control" over northeastern Syria.

Well, we are IN Syria — a sovereign state — without a declaration of by Congress; so I guess Congress hasn’t anything to say about war or peace any longer. Wars are now solely the province of the Executive.

(Thanks, O...)

Traitor to America. if only DC worried about the American people as much as it did Kurds, Mexicans, Africans, and every migrant on earth.

They couldn’t care less about keeping us safe and that is not what this war is about. If THAT was the goal, they would make efforts to strengthen the border and would have supported Trump’s travel ban, and wouldn’t be trying to overthrow Assad and place a wahabbist government in his place.

Not to mention, Mitch is attacking Trump policies at the moment Trump should get max GOP support.

The POS.

He’s introducing a resolution to declare war in Syria on behalf of the Kurds?

‘cuz that’s the only thing that should be keeping our troops there.

Mitch was in the Army and was discharged under sketchy circumstances. He won’t release his military record.

All 28 troops are out. So what’s there to halt? As for who might get more leverage because of it, don’t you worry your pretty little head about it, Mitch. That’s foreign policy, which is entirely the POTUS’ province, and no, you do not get to butt in. You make laws, pass budgets, and do investigations.

Why doesn’t the US get a 20 mile wide buffer zone south of our border?

a little late Mitch.

in reading this article remember Syria has been a client state of Russia since signing a treaty in 1946. Russian “advisors” have been embedded within Syrian military for more than a generation. (not since Trump took over the WH as some in the media will imply) Also, the only Mediterranean Sea port Russia has is in Syria. Russia also has a tight relationship with Iran which goes back to 1980.

Also, Turkey will resettle two million of their 3.6 million Syrian refugees in the new buffer zone. Turkey has the most severe refugee problem in the world, so it is said. So Syrians will resettle Syria.

We have no business there. Get the nukes out and let them at it.

I’ll believe CNN when I see McConnell on camera saying it. With a notarized transcript to back it up.
