WASHINGTON When a half-dozen Democratic donors gathered at the Whitby Hotel in Manhattan last week, the dinner began with a discussion of which presidential candidates the contributors liked. But as conversations among influential Democrats often go these days, the meeting quickly evolved into a discussion of who was not in the race but could be lured in. a group of people standing on a stage: Senator Elizabeth Warren has faced persistent questions about her viability in the general election, and there is concern among some Democrats about her liberal politics.© Parker Michels-Boyce for The New York Times Senator Elizabeth Warren has faced persistent questions about her viability in the
Would Hillary Clinton get in, the contributors wondered, and how about Michael R. Bloomberg, the former New York mayor? One person even mused whether Michelle Obama would consider a late entry, according to two people who attended the event, which was hosted by the progressive group American Bridge.
Its that time of the election season for Democrats.
Since the last debate, just anecdotally, Ive had five or six people ask me: Is there anybody else? said Leah Daughtry, a longtime Democrat who has run two of the partys recent conventions.

2020, the year the Democrats decided to try 1972 again, while the economy was humming along like 1984....
Hillary is waiting,,,
I believe “Democratic” is a poorly chosen word. They are Democrats. It’s a name. Not a descriptive term. They aren’t democratic at all.
Nobody wants to get Mondaled.
Hillary is hoping to be dragged back in.
Yup. Democrats are only interested in democracy when they know they’ll win. Authoritarianism otherwise.
Michelle Obama? She has complained about living in a house built by slaves. No way would she want to live in the White House again.
Sarcasm.
HILLARY!!!!
It’s your time. Jump in!
How about that guy Bono? Oh, I guess he’s not a citizen..
If there were, he or she would have to run on the Dems' record over the last three years. So no.
Maybe she’ll have a few potential opponents Vince Fostered just to clear the way. You know she would.
Sounds like the Big Money guys agree with me, all the candidates now are running for Vice President!!
Franken/Stein
If they want a clean white male Democrat, Phil Bredesen or Karl Dean
Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama will not win the nomination, I don’t think so.
The Democrats overpromise their base, that is why they are in the problem that they are in.
Yeah, but neither was Obama. Didn’t stop him. Maybe Imelda Marcos is available.
They know impeachment and CONVICTION their only hope. So who will be the sacrafice.
The Dems have driven themselves into their mess.
Biden is obviously senile.
Warren is obviously anti-capitalist and will not attract the $ of the super pacs and Wall Street. No money, no campaign workers, just that simple, she won’t be able to get out the Dem voters.
Sanders doesn’t have the health and America will never elect a socialist.
Hilary is a has-been hack on the edge of indictment.
Buttigieg has much talent but is too white, too male, too inexperienced, too broke for the Dems.
Senator Amy Klobuchar is progressive but practical, very popular in MN. She only needs lots of money and an Obama endorsement and she could be a force. Look out for her in the future after the dust settles.
