Powell must have some deep contacts inside the Deep State. And that must be unnerving a lot of people.

Good point. I looked at it a little differently. If Powell knew of the existence of these devices and the Mueller prosecutors did not, then that would mean the DOJ is deliberately withholding information from the prosecutors.

Personally, I think the biggest bombshell came in the Mueller report when they admitted that the FBI never examined the DNC server that had allegedly been hacked by the Russians. This was explosive for two reasons:

1. If your job in the special counsel's office was to examine Russian interference in the U.S. election, wouldn't that be one of the most important pieces of evidence in your case?

2. Mueller's team actually prosecuted several Russians for interfering in the 2016 U.S. election and claimed in those filings that the DNC server had been hacked by the Russians. The formal charges filed in a criminal case are sworn statements from the prosecution team. So Mueller's report basically undermined a case that his team had already begun to prosecute.

Item #2 is critical here, because it gives someone like AG Barr all the justification he needs to cut his own prosecutors loose and treat them as potential targets of a criminal investigation.

I'm not stupid. I know this is not TV or a movie. Please stop with the mocking.

".... the origins of the Russia investigation has expanded significantly amid concerns about whether the probe has any legal or factual basis...."

What concerns are those? From who? The democRATS? The AG at the DOJ can investigate whatever he deems important. Trying to say it's questionably legal or factual is ridiculous.

Like I said. We'll be lucky if we ever see the end of this.

the level of corruption between Obama, Brennan, Clapper, Comey, McCabe, Ohrs, Mueller, Clinton, GPS Fusion, Steele, Simpson, Reid, Schiff, and the DNC is so vast that it would take the entire DOJ staff to bring this crime of the century to trial.

Nice post.

You left out the GOP.

Excellent observations.

I admit to being cynical about Barr’s investigation (because no one is ever held accountable in the DC Swamp) but at the same time I sympathize with him because of the snake pit that he’s been thrust into. It must be a nightmare of epic proportions; he not only has to unravel it all but will probably advise the president on how to clean it up. Its a herculean task for sure. And the corruption has been growing for decades so it can’t be fixed overnight.

But Barr has an historic opportunity to be a modern day Wyatt Earp. I don’t think its an exaggeration to say that the fate of our country depends on his ability and dedication to round up the seditious outlaws in DC. If he fails, the political weaponization of our federal agencies will have effectively been legitimized.

In another thread I noted that according to the NYT “Two former senior F.B.I. agents are assisting with the review”. Any idea who those two are?

Yep. THEY are the enablers, if not co-conspirators in many cases.

A disturbing, yet insightful, observation.

The Dems are very good at demonizing and branding their opponents, and exceptionally good at clock management. The weak and clueless Republicans will never be their strategic or tactical equals, unfortunately.

Trump is the only one who really fights for us.

Roger that. How long have FReepers on this site been complaining about nothing ever happening? A very long time. Since Trump was elected.

These unending investigations are getting tiresome because we all know that nothing has happened so far to put the bad guys away and yet they keep "looking into it".

I have lost any faith in the system to get to the bottom of this conspiratorial coup attempt on the sitting president.

Or maybe Barr is trying to extend it until Trump's reelection so the bad news and bad guys won't be able to disrupt the election in 2020.

After that, he and Trump will have "more flexibility" a la Obama and Putin.

Nothing to do but wait some more.

The way I see it, there is a very important reason why each of the following items are factually true:

1. The phone call between President Trump and the Ukrainian president took place one day after Mueller's testimony before the House committee.

2. In the transcript of the call, President Trump specifically mentioned the Crowdstrike angle of the 2016 election scandal in addition to "the Bidens" when asking for the Ukrainian president's help.

3. The Crowdstrike reference has gotten zero coverage in the mainstream media -- even to the point that CNN apparently eliminated it entirely in its initial reporting on the transcript.

C O V E R - U P

That’s all these investigations are.

The State Department just concluded over 600 violations of law were not evidence of a crime.

They also concluded that nobody actually meant to break the law.

Say what?

Is Barr praying Trump doesn’t get re-elected in 2020, so he won’t have to ever worry about prosecuting anyone?

Delay

NBC is full of shit, and so are their “experts.”

“amid concerns about whether the probe has any legal or factual basis, multiple current and former officials told NBC News.”

There is a ton of evidence. Documents, texts, phone calls, witness testimony etc.. Of a coup.

Methinks the Deep state, DNC and their lackies in the corporate media are getting scared.
