"The reality is Congress is going to act," U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said Wednesday. "We're coming for you, [NCAA]." Romney participated in a roundtable discussion with several other politicians, advocates and others involved in the sports world such as NFL Players Association attorney Joe Briggs and ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas. With all the troubles in the land, I'm so glad Mittens has found a cause of real importance.

If Trump had suggested this, you can bet that Romney would find it “profoundly troubling.”

It will destroy college sports as we know them, and therefore I support it.

Why should the government (we the people) support college athletics. They don’t need to be paid to play in college.
Then we wonder why the government budget is sky rocketing! Insanity continues!

Glad that congesscritters can concentrate their limited IQs and morality to bring upon us rules about things that couldn’t influence anything of any real value.

After all, college sports are much more important than our overspent budget, massive national debt, untrustworthy and treasonous press, and worthless education system.

What could possibly go wrong?
Just wait for the corruption and witch hunts that will spawn from this.

Yeah, it is so much easier to fix problems that don't exist, or make real problems worse.

Yep.

They’re gonna find a way to ruin college football.

Cheating programs like Georgia, Alabama and Clemson in sweaty armpit Southern towns are deeply saddened. Could be the end of their life as they know it in those states. Not being able to vicariously live through the athletic accomplishments of 20 year old young men.

Can we finally stop the farce of calling the willfully illiterate college students?

Everything that brings us together must be destroyed. They ruined baseball, basketball, and the NFL. College football is next on the agenda.

How about having the Pro leagues do the subsidizing since college sports are feeders to the Pro teams.

Why not just pay them and have semi-pro teams sponsored by colleges? Then, if they wanted to take courses, they could use their salaries to pay for them. The pretense of some of these athletes being successful students only serves to lower standards.

A free education - while others are drowning in student loan debt - isn't enough?

He’s on top of the “vaping crisis” too, isn’t he? What a gem. A man with his insight and abilities would be a better fit on a school board. Thanks, again, Utah!

Me to 5 star recruit: “If you play football at [my university], I’ll buy 5 of your signed jerseys for $10,000 each.”

5 star recruit: Deal!

Alabama: $20,000 each!

Clemson: $30,000 each!

What could go wrong?
