The Chinese government asked the N.B.A. to fire a team executive who posted on social media in support of pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong, the leagues commissioner, Adam Silver, said on Thursday in his first public appearance in the United States since returning from a contentious trip to Asia.
We said theres no chance thats happening, Silver said. Theres no chance well even discipline him.
The executive, Daryl Morey, the general manager of the Houston Rockets, set off the international firestorm with a Twitter post using a slogan used by the protesters in Hong Kong, just as the league was preparing to stage games in Shanghai and Shenzhen between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Nets. Morey later deleted the post.

Fertitta will get rid of this guy, he will just let things cool down then do it really quiet, and the sports media will hardly say a word about it when it happens, keep it on the down low as they say.

Note to the league...
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

What LeBron's message served to do is make it very clear that he's sold himself into slavery. Rich and famous black athletes and movie stars have been bought off to control their populations. The silver lining might be that young people who look up to him start realizing that this modern day form of slavery, now with top-tier Chinese being their masters. It's the very definition of an Uncle Tom.
elite black movie starts and athletes have been bought off to control those populations. That's the very defition of being an "Uncle Tom".

I do remember Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Chris Mullin. That was a very different league. Since Michael Jordan's departure, it has been all downhill.

Yes and that’s why the NBA is of no interest to me. Not surprised at all about their recent actions. It’s all about the stupid shoes. Screw LeBron James and company.

It's almost as if the NBA *wants* to derail President Trump's trade negotiations, but that can't be it.

Elizabeth Becker Cambodia and Khmer Rouge Collection, 1970-1988 PDF. Communist influence at the NYT goes back to Adolph Ochs and a young Arthur Hays Sulzberger, who later turned anti-Communist. The American Newspaper Guild and SISS tried to purge Communists from the NYT in the 1940s and 1950s. At the
Washington Post, Communist influence goes back to Philip Graham, who worked for Felix Frankfurter's Soviet spy ring in WWII before becoming the CIA's mouthpiece in the newspaper industry during the Cold War. J. Edgar Hoover once said that he was happy whenever the NYT or WP criticized the FBI, and if they ever praised him, he would order an investigation to find out what had gone wrong.
