The Chinese government asked the N.B.A. to fire a team executive who posted on social media in support of pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong, the leagues commissioner, Adam Silver, said on Thursday in his first public appearance in the United States since returning from a contentious trip to Asia.
We said theres no chance thats happening, Silver said. Theres no chance well even discipline him.
The executive, Daryl Morey, the general manager of the Houston Rockets, set off the international firestorm with a Twitter post using a slogan used by the protesters in Hong Kong, just as the league was preparing to stage games in Shanghai and Shenzhen between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Nets. Morey later deleted the post.

He forgot to add but we will make sure that no one associated with the nba will ever utter a negative word about our chinese overlords.
I love college basketball. March madness is a fun time at our house.
I’ve never been to an nba game or watched it on tv. I do remember magic Johnson, Larry bird, Chris mullin. I have no interest in the nba.

Maybe there is some “brass” in that Silver. Hope so. Otherwise, the NBA will go the way of the fascist-led (Goodell) NFL, aided and abetted by Comrade Marxist Crapperhead and his red toadies in Kerr, Bennett and Curry.
The Marxist Left has always had a toehold or more in the NY Times and Wash. Post. You just had to know who to look at (read) and who they associated with.
Did you know that NYT Times leftist Vietnam reporter Elizabeth Becker was the only major newspaper journalist to participate in a “Hanoi Lobby” created/run anti-Vietnam protest? (In NY, about 1972. Will try to find the exact article). Other NYT writers and guest Op-Ed writers were KGB or Communist Party members/sympathizers, including Wilfred Burchett (KGB, Australian CP, Red Chinese operative during the Korean War), Anthony Lewis (communist disinformation specialist on Vietnam), and Obit page manager/writer, former 12 year CP member who the Party continued to count on to “write well about the left dead” (possible paraphrase from one of their theoretical journals (possible Political Affairs).
Let Lebron go and hold General Tsos Chicken.
It goes back even further. NYT did positive stories on Stalin in the 1930s while he was starving out Ukraine. They also spiked stories of Jews, political dissidents interned in concentration camps during the late 30s in Nazi Germany.
If I were Morey...I would tweet again...even more support for the democracy advocate/protesters in Hong Kong. Just double down as it were. And then tell Adam Silver...LBJ and anyone else to kiss my ass.
Their Chinese masters will not like that.
When you do business in China, literally everything is political. You will be the Chinese Communist Partys prison byatch. Theres no way around it
China. Welcome to late-stage corporatism, or more bluntly fascism.
Hey we’re both smart! :)
Thought the same thing.
no outrage, this statement doesn’t happen.
lol.
You don’t have to like or watch the NBA. The concern is about supposed American capitalists slobbering over totalitarian communist members.
It is disgusting and debasing, much like Zerohissef bowing to the Saudis.
Wasnt he already disciplined? Was he pressured to delete his tweet and apologize? Didnt Tillman Fertita jump down his throat?
Conquered territory.
Is China behind the NBAs support for gun bans in the USA?
I have never had a Pu Pu Platter. The name doesn’t sound right. But I’ll trade one for LeBron James. I’ll trade him for a rusty tin can.
In a tangential manner: Canned smoked oysters at Trader Joes come from South Korea, not PRC
Does Trader Joe take LeBron Jameses?
