Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan put US President Donald Trump's letter "in the bin", the BBC has been told.
In the letter dated 9 October, and sent after US troops were pulled out of Syria, Mr Trump told Mr Erdogan: "Don't be a tough guy. Don't be a fool!"
President Trump was urging Turkey not to launch a military offensive against Kurdish-led forces in northern Syria, but Mr Erdogan ignored this request.
US Vice President Mike Pence is now in Ankara to push for a ceasefire.
The US has faced intense criticism for the withdrawal of troops, which critics say gave Turkey the green light to launch the military attack.

Well, that’s his choice. Enjoy your economic meltdown! ;)
The YUGE supporters of the decision to leave the area (they weren’t taken out of Syria, just moved) will be here in a second with a BILLION excuses as to why this doesn’t matter at all.
And why it doesn’t matter that a lot of ISIS members are escaping due to the attacks.
And that despite saying we are withdrawing from places, we sent 2000 men to a country that financed and likely knew about 9/11.
And how “withdrawing” means moving men to another part of Syria.
And...
Sounds like you agree with Lindsay?
“And why it doesnt matter that a lot of ISIS members are escaping due to the attacks.”
What makes you think ISIS is escaping? It is also plausible that Turkey is not only going after the non PKK Kurds, but taking ISIS out with them.
They have no idea what Erdogan's actual reaction was, despite their imaginary sources.
If they kept ISIS members alive instead of killing them... I guess they are going to learn their lesson on that.
What makes you think the fighters in these camps were not coming and going. A majority of the population of these camps are the dependents of the fighters. Can you really trust the Kurds even if our forces had stayed in place? This is the Middle East and lies and deceit are standard practice for the people who live there.

Why don’t we just shoot the dirtbags
ISIS isn’t even a country, just a group of terrorists and rapist that took over an area.
Shoot them
Don’t take them as prisoners
Let the turks or kurds shoot them
They would do us a favor
This bastard is bad news and he’s been signaling that for 15 years. He needs to be kicked out of NATO and all significant US assets need to be forcibly taken from him or scuttled and abandoned, pronto. He has had opportunity to help us and has instead thwarted us at every turn.
The longer we act like he is some sort of ally, the longer he will string us along and take advantage of us.
Trump is right. Ergodan is a fool. He wants to concentrate on the Kurds, when the real villains are ISIS. I would have no problems if the Turks just exterminated ISIS and all who associate with it, including the ISIS brides.
One thing we know...Pelosi supports nothing put forth by the President.....nothing.
And she seems a little off balance. Probably cuz Schitt used her and she still hasn't caught on.
Erdo’s reaction might have looked like, the often played clip of Hitler’s rant!
He can’t Read ,LOL
Get our troops out of the miserable dumpster fire that is the Middle East. Bring them home.
Encourage Iran, Turkey, and Russia to go at it. Let them get mired there.

Are you unhinged or just drunk?
Trump’s letter appears designed to ensure complete rejection by Erdogan. Any appearance of accepting Trump’s demands would be career suicide for him. I’m not one to attribute genius to Trump’s every move, but once real world circumstances force Erdogan to back down in Syria, he will loose a lot of clout in Turkey, and be shown to have overreached.
A trillion dollars thrown down Middle East hellholes is enough.
NO MORE...
The promise made to America’s young is we won’t throw their lives away on senseless missions. The military part of the deep state lied to our young - broke their promises to the American people.
Ok, why dont general McNeocon tell us what the mission is in Syria.
Tell us why a 30 day deployment is expected to go on forever.
Tell us the rules of engagment.
Tell us the the exit strategy.
Where is the formal declaration of war?
And if Turkey or whomever hits any of our troops. What are your orders from your oversized office chair?
Or are you trolls just here to display your inner George W., and think because those retards had their meaningless vote, that it’s “safe” to spout off with no clue as to what your point is?
