The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to take the case of a public school teacher who required her students to recite the Islamic "conversion prayer" or receive a failing grade.
The Thomas More Law Center is defending Caleigh Wood, a Christian student in 11th grade at La Plata High School in La Plata, Maryland.
Wood refused to deny her faith "by making a written profession of the Muslim conversion prayer known as the shahada 'There is no god by allah and Muhammad is the messenger of allah,'" Thomas More said.
The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the teacher did not violate the Establishment Clause.
Wood also had been forced to view a series of Islam-promoting PowerPoint slides, including one casting aspersions on Christians that said, "Most Muslims' faith is stronger than the average Christian."

They only declined to hear the case, which cried out for an unequivocal ruling. Used to be there was only stupid gas leaks. Has the coward gas plant ruptured a line, too?
Leftist school teachers are your enemy, folks.
Since John Dewey in the 1910s, actually.
The NEA is their coven. Lawyers are their henchmen.
Saul Alinsky would approve. So would Bill Ayers.
Yes it did.
When I was a kid the various government agencies competed with each other to see who could make the prettiest manger scene on govt property at Xmas. Signs: "Worship at the church of your choice, but worship." Etc.
Amazing how far we've fallen.
1 John 2:18: Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
1 John 2:22: Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1 John 4:3: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2 John 7: For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
The Lord, The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, will see her in a differeng light.
Jesus told us:
27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. 32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven..
All part of the Communist, Nwo plan to destroy the US. Thank you for what you do. Unless we can get control of our evil media, I’m concerned nothing will change.
I wonder if the student could have written the answer with quotation mark and in brackets put down [I don’t believe this, but this is what you are looking for.]
Also, Muslims say that prophets can not lie.... Mohammed called Jesus a prophet. May we study what Jesus said and have some questions about that in our next text?
neither does the antiChristian ACLU.
It was a KKK klansman on the Supreme Court who ushered in the modern “separation of church and state” arguments because he didn’t like the idea of CATHOLIC students using public school buses to go to parochial schools.
Discrimination is a thing. But the gay gods in black dresses on the Supremacist Court get to decide who can and cannot be discriminated against.
The Supreme Court takes about 100 cases a year out of the thousands that are appealed. They usually do not explain why they are not taking a case and the reasons vary.
Not taking a case is not the same thing as deciding a case. Refusing to hear a case does not set any precedent for that issue.
They did not explain why they didnt take this case, so youll be waiting a long time for the why.
Bump for Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life.
If a teacher wants to present this material in the context of studying comparative religion, fine. As long as Muslim students are required to recite the Lord’s Prayer. Gotta mix in the other major religions on the same basis as well.
Here is my student's assignment to bring and read to her Latin class:
Sancte Michael Archangele,
defende nos in proelio,
contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium.
Imperet illi Deus, supplices deprecamur:
tuque, Princeps militiae caelestis,
Satanam aliosque spiritus malignos,
qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo,
divina virtute, in infernum detrude.
+Amen.
The SC did not side with the teacher by refusing to take the case. This matter should be handled at the lowest possible level. If the people who live in that school district do not do WHAT EVER IS REQUIRED TO STOP THIS DEMOCRAT INSANITY, then they deserve whatever they get.
We went decades after Miller before we got a Second Amendment ruling, in part because (so I heard) the Justices wanted the RIGHT CASE. It worked. We gun rights enthusiasts have a similar debate on getting a concealed-carry case before the SCOTUS. While I'd love national reciprocity, I'm ok with the strong States Rights we have today vs risking a losing case with the uncertainty of Roberts.
If this really was not a rock-solid Establishment case then maybe it is best in the long run to take a pass. Similarly, if RBG or another leftist leaves and we get an originalist Justice, then such cases may be brought forward.
This doesn't mean I love forced conversion or proselytizing. But Our Lord reminds us we will have Crosses to bear; hopefully this child's stance has a ripple effect greater than a SCOTUS case.
“That this teacher is still employed, the school principle was not run out of town and the school board was not voted out speaks volumes as to where we will be in another few years.......”
What would happen if we changed the nouns around?
“A Christian teacher forced an islamic student to recite Christian prayer or receive a failing grade”
That teacher is fired before the end of the day and the story is the top story on ABCNBCCBSCNNMSNBCNYTIMES etc...
Then there is this: Wood also had been forced to view a series of Islam-promoting PowerPoint slides, including one casting aspersions on Christians that said, "Most Muslims' faith is stronger than the average Christian.". Does anybody really think "the average Christian" is as fervent as a Muslim? They blow themselves up for their religion. Most Christians want to be inclusive and not offend anybody.
To me, the issue in this story should be "why were students being taught about Islam?". If the class was studying people from all over the world and their various religions (Buddhism, Hinduism, etc) including Judaism and Christianity, then I see no problem in it. When I taught Sunday School class to high-schoolers I once taught a class comparing the World's religions (the one the students found the weirdest was Mormonism). However, this WND article does not explore that, which makes me wonder if there is more to this story than what they chose to report.
