President Trump has played this out perfectly. By isolating Turkish President Recep Erdogan, and effectively leaving him naked to an alliance of his enemies, Erdogan is now urgently asking for the U.S. to mediate peace negotiations with Kurdish forces.
This request happens immediately after President Trump signed an executive order [See Here] triggering the sanction authority of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. Erdogan called the White House requesting an urgent phone call with President Trump.
After President Trump talked to Kurdish General Mazloum Kobani Abdi, the commander of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, President Trump then discussed the options available to President Erdogan. As a result of that conversation, Erdogan requested the U.S. mediate negotiations. Vice-President Mike Pence announces he will be traveling to the region with National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien to lead that effort. WATCH:

And just what vital interests of this country is affected by any of that?
The Turks and Syrian Kurds have been at each others throats for hundreds of years. Are we the worlds policemen? Are we to stay in perpetuity to keep them from going at each other?
If I’m not mistaken I believe President Trump made it eminently clear what his position is on never-ending missions.
And, please recall in 2014 when those troops were sent in we were told it was for a specific mission to last no more than 30 days. It’s 5 years past 30 days.
Trump would have been an excellent chess player. He is always 3-4 moves ahead of the rest.
So go vote for someone else then. Why are the Kurd’s so much better than American’s that you would toss away your vote for a foreigner let alone risk yet another American life over? That are has been at it for 1000+ years; They don’t match up well with our society by and large. They can figure it out on their own in maybe another 1000 years. Still not worth 1 American life. They are not our allies; they are just using us (and we them)for their own “greater goals” and America has got nothing in their agenda beyond fleecing us.
I don’t fully agree. The PKK really has been committing acts of terrorism inside Turkey. Doing that while we support Kurds hurts the US.

Comparing the PKK in Turkey to the YPG in Syria is like comparing ANTIFA in Portland to the Young Americans for Freedom in South Carolina. They really aren’t comparable.
Supporting Trump’s actions to actually fulfill his campaign promises to end our mid-East wars is a good thing. But supporting Trump doesn’t mean we should suddenly decide we need to demonize the Syrian Kurds (who died by the thousands in common cause with us fighting ISIS) and cheer on the unprovoked Turkish bombings and invasion.
There are villains in the current actions in Syria. And the villains are not Trump, not the Syrian Kurds, not Assad loyalist forces, not the Russians supporting them. The Villains are the Islamist Erdogan Turks and their Arab Islamist militia allies/minions.
Is it true 700 + ISIS prisoners escaped? That will cause some blow back on the USA>

There are far far more Al Qaeda fighters, 10’s of 1000’s more than that in Afghanistan and Pakistan. There are Islamist Jihadists on the African Continent by the 10’s of 1000’s. They are in the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Yemen, Quatar, etc...what about them?
What should we do about all of those Jihadists all of whom have the same Jihadist goals? Should we re-institute the draft and ask Congress to declare war on all of them in all of those countries? 700+ is not our concern. They are the problem of the locals. Let them deal with them as they see fit.
I sure hope so.
Instead of useless sanctions how about we pull USA troops and missiles out of Turkey. Or is Trump less interested in getting out of the region and more interested in bowing down to Erdogan? Like he did with North Korea and the Saudis?

Your response is telling. It wreaks of bias. President Trump hasn’t bowed down to anyone. Unlike his predecessor. His intent to not engage in missions without end was front and center in his campaign. His views on this was and is crystal clear.

Joe, I know it was a Dimwit controlled Congress. HOWEVER, it is still ON America. The rest of the world takes that stance. The Commies tell the world that we will abandon you when it goes bad, we cannot be trusted, will cut funding, yada, yada. Yup, WE, the United States left Vietnam. Doesn’t matter what side of the government did it, the commies don’t mention those things to the world who does not understand how our government works, etc., so they conveniently leave those little items out of their conversations with the world.
