GETTING UNDERWAY
A young Ensign, who had just completed his first overseas deployment, was given the opportunity to "show his stuff" by getting his ship underway. As he yelled out commands with great confidence, sailors were running everywhere. In no time, the ship came out of the channel, headed for home. It was accomplished so well that he set a new record for getting a destroyer underway. He wasn't surprised when a seaman approached him with a message from his CO...he WAS surprised to find that it was a radio message. He was even more surprised as he read, "Bravo Zulu upon completing your underway preparation exercise according to the book and with amazing speed. In your haste, however, you have overlooked one of the unwritten rules...always make sure the CO is aboard before getting underway". In our haste to "get underway" daily in this vast ocean that we call "life", let us remember to make sure that God is aboard. It is He who will guide and direct us safely through the storms and rough seas! CAPT Diana L. Meehan, CHC, USN

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...and a Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.
Are you and Blue still on the road? Penny up for a hike yet?
We are below freezing every night now, but the days are still making it into the low 40s. Maybe a bit of snow next weekend. Leaves everywhere.

Blue is still with me, but the last few days have been rainy and miserable, so I haven’t been riding. I expect better weather next week though!
I really don’t want to put the bike away for winter just yet!
Next weekend, Penny and I will be going to Cape Cod for a nice hiking kind of vacation on the autumn seaside trails.
My sister rented a little cottage that accepts pets.

Not much for leaves here, just pine needles. The snow mostly melted and it got up to 65 today. Happy winter.

Hai Kathy! (((HUGS))) Well stuck in Denver because of weather. I have a three day off slot so just as well stay here. I’ll have a few more routes to fly before I complete my thousand hours for the year and off until after New Year’s Day.

October 13Worth the Wait
We eagerly await a Savior. Philippians 3:20
Outside the Shibuya train station in Tokyo is a statue commemorating an Akita dog named Hachiko. Hachiko is remembered for unusual faithfulness to his owner, a university professor who commuted from the station daily. The dog accompanied him on his walk there in the morning and came back to meet him every afternoon just as his train arrived.
One day the professor didnt return to the station; sadly, hed died at work. But for the rest of his lifemore than nine yearsHachiko showed up at the same time as the afternoon train. Day after day, regardless of weather, the dog waited faithfully for his masters return.
Paul commended the Thessalonians for their faithfulness, citing their work produced by faith, labor prompted by love, and endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:3). Despite harsh opposition, they left their old ways to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven (vv. 910).
These early believers vital hope in their Savior and His love for them inspired them to see beyond their difficulties and to share their faith enthusiastically. They were assured there was nothing better than living for Jesus. How good it is to know that the same Holy Spirit who emboldened them (v. 5) still empowers us today to faithfully serve Jesus as we await His return.

Reflect & Pray
What do you look forward to most about being with Jesus? How are you sharing your hope in Him?
Jesus, help me take heart and wait for You.

Good evening, mountainlion...winter over, huh? LOL!
A Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
Well...you have your wood supply in, so you are ready for the real snow. I got a call today for renewing my snow plowing when needed. But I’m still sweeping wet leaves off the deck every day.

Howdy, LUV.
Yep, a LOT cooler here. 46 degrees at the moment and this tie last night, we were in the low 70s. It made it up to 62 degrees at the farm but only 56 up at the museum. The wind took ALL the fun out of being outside.
But tomorrow is supposed to be around 70 and we’ll have 70s through the next week.
If you haven’t checked Oz tonight, you need to take a quick peek at the cam.

Stuck in Denver, huh? Well, be safe and enjoy your down time. Very cool about almost to max flying time and LOTS of time off at the end of the year.
