Northern California fire officials say a man dependent on oxygen died about 12 minutes after Pacific Gas and Electric shut down power to the area as part of a massive effort to prevent fire.
El Dorado County Fire Chief Lloyd Ogan said Friday that fire personnel responded to a call in Pollock Pines that came in after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
He said crews arrived to find an unresponsive man in his 60s and were unable to revive him.
Ogan said the man's oxygen equipment required power but could not say whether the shutdown was related to his death.
PG&E spokesman Jeff Smith said it has not been able to confirm the accuracy of the report.
The man was a defective and unable to survive in his Califirnia habitaat.
If he was a prudent man, he would not have lived in California and exist dependent on government edicts over which he was powerless to control.
Electric power purchase is optional. The man made a fundamental error in not having an auxilliary source of either power or oxygen.
The dead man died as a result of his own inaction
It was his fault. Poor planning or actually no planning was responsible for his death
He failed, that is failed, to take responsibility for his own well being.
Why?
The blackout region is not suitable for electric power because it literally burns up if there is a line failure producing sparks.
The fact is, the hard cold fact, is that under present conditions the areas with the black outs are uninhabitable under present conditions.
I meant suing the power company, which does mean it will come from either their insurance company or their rate payers.
That’s how my mother (RIP) had it. Backup oxygen tank.
But such preparations would work against the Glorious Goal of reducing the world’s population to 500 million people. /sarc
Israel or Cali?
Maryland will eventually start having this crap. We’re supposed to be at 50% renewables by 2030, if I recall correctly, and our Republicrat governor, Hogan, doesn’t seem to be lifting a finger to allow us access to more affordable sources of energy. In fact, he signed into law a permanent fracking ban on PRIVATE PROPERTY during his first term, which totally renders our portion of the Marcellus Shale inaccessible by law.
Make the Appalachians Poor Again!
Loser Pays should always be the rule.
i’m sure NY isn’t far behind. Maybe even ahead
Yep, they banned fracking there, too, ensuring that your upstate has a mild economic depression, with more people who lost meaningful work turning to drugs, IMO.
SMH
what a shame.
Thats how my mother (RIP) had it. Backup oxygen tank.

My Dad had this too. We had a week long power outage. I immediately called his supplier and got extra tanks delivered. Our local health center and hospital was swamped with people needing oxygen-they both had strong backup generators.
We actually had 2 portable generators that hubby used for his part time business. Hooked up the Refrigerator, Freezer, Dad’s oxygen, TV, and window air conditioner for him, and the other for our daughter’s house.
Dad used the tanks until we were able to get it all set up. Dad passed away in 2008-miss him still. He would have loved POTUS DJT.
What is important is the PG&E execs have gotten their $10 million in bonus money.
See the huge bonus money they have given themselves year after year.

Im. Not fond of utilities but someone that critical should have had ample backup
Precisely
I cannot sleep without my cpap
Ive got a cable to my truck battery and a generator and a battery pack for backup and car camping
I dont have full blown central sleep apnea but my obstructive is profound
Wake up 55 times an hour and long gaps without breathing waking up gasping
I cant imagine being oxygen dependent
What alternative power one can use an O2 producing rig cant they ?
California. Have not been in israel for a long time.
